Beside Jabari going nuclear early on we might have been throwing bricks start of the quarter and lack of space might have effected Sengun and made easier for them to pressure KD for tougher shots. Looks like KD and Sengun works better with Reed on the floor even if he slips up in the defense and please don’t put Capala when Reed is on the floor, he just cannot switch cover fast enough for his slippage.
Very good points. I think starting double-bigs will be an option reserved for rare occasions, especially after tonight.
We did accomplished not letting Zion go off but I think we can still pull it off just have consistent line-up with faster substitutions from Ime instead
There is shortage of true guards on this roster.......Udoka has been improvising.... Nobody is falling for Aquaman Adams no more......that time is gone.
I don’t disagree. I think the double big lineup is better utilized for short periods to unsteady the opponent.
Adams was +26 lol He had an amazing impact this game and they were up against front court of Fit Zion and Yves Missi who looked like prime Capela. Y'all act like Rox werent up by 17 before 3rd stringers came in. Jabari going nuclear has something to do with Double big because he is 6'10 being guarded by wings instead of PFs. Thats the point if double big we got an advantage at all front court positions.
I don't mind the experimentation but the no guards line up seems like it should really never be used outside of Birmingham. These double big lineups are nice playoff changes of pace but unlike say the 2018-20 small ball lineups the Rockets don't have the personnel to run them consistently - Adams isn't that available, and having "hey Kevin do something" be most of your offense seems to taxing on him.
Cavs and Thunder love their. Spurs is also experimenting with their own. There must be something with these lineups.
For a few specific match ups, I'm ok with. But I would rather just have it happen for around 16 minutes a night
Ime will probably start either Reed or Steven depending on matchups. That seems like a smart strategy
Adams and Sengun dominate the boards and provide great defense which is the Rox identity. Pelicans have a big athletic front court with ZION and Yzes Missi as well as big wings in Herb Jones and Trey Murphy thats why they could keep up with us but for normal teams they would get ground and pound by the double big. And Rox still led by 17 by the time 3rd stringers came in. Double big should be our starting lineup and we should play it as much as possible. Rox are 3-0 playing the double big and people still wanna argue with results lol.
Everyone likes being and feeling bigger... no matter if it's basketball, corporate positions... positions in the bedroom. It is what it is.
Not even wings. Jabari was guarded by Poole, a point guard; 6'10 PF guarded by 6'4 PG. In the Adams-Sengun-Amen-KD-Smith lineup, the opposing team has very few options other than putting a big man on Adams and Sengun, their strongest wing defender on KD, and then deciding whether their weakest defender guards Amen or Bari.
