It's a shame Bo Bichette is still out. Blue Jays need another reliable bat behind Springer and Guerrero.
I think Astros fans are spoiled by our starting pitching the last 7-8 years. It seems like very few teams have actual starting pitching depth these days. Milwaukee, the #1 seed in the NL, is somehow starting its 2nd straight bullpen game despite an off day in between those. Toronto, #1 seed in the AL, started a rookie with like 5 career starts in Game 2 despite having played only 1 game in the last 5 days. Seattle, for some bizarre reason, started a guy who pitched 3 days ago and only got 3 innings out of him instead of just giving him tomorrow's off day and starting him on normal rest in games 3 and 7. It seems that outside of Dodgers, no one seems to actually trust their SPs at all. Compared to that, the Astros having Brown, Arrighetti, Javier, Blublaugh, Alexander, McCullers, etc seems to be not-awful.
Wow a 2nd straight year in which I'll not watch a single inning of the World Series because the Mariners and Dodgers will be participating. Lovely.
I agree with you with everything except the Mariners not trusting their starters. That was because they went 15 innings and burned two starters in extras. Woo is apparently returning this series as well - they’ve got 5 guys they trust.
I read that they actually offered a legit offer but Polanco allowed the Mariners to counter. They offered more than what the Astros offered and he immediately signed with them. Not sure why he didn't go back to the Astros and see if they would up their offer and then see if Mariners would then match the new offer.
Polanco was Walker last season for Seattle -- very good player plays for new team, then plays below average his first year. This year was his career-best with a 134 OPS+ Bet the under on Walker returning to glory in '26.
The difference is Walker is going to be 35 next season. I’m not saying it can’t happen but the odds are more against it
Rooting for the Blue Jays is like watching the Astros the last few years. It feels like they just gave up
Didn't know what he ended up getting but yeah $7.5 is reasonable. But to be fair, Polanco did say he was very close to signing with Houston and the offer was fair. Apparently his agent also said to the Mariners, offer a little more and he'll sign with you guys. I wonder if the Astros offer was $6 to $7 mil. Article mentioned he was close to a few of the players so that helped as well
If the Mariners find a way to win it all, then the last 3 American League teams to win the WS have all come from the AL West...which most consider to be the weakest division in basball...
