I know this post is 4 months old, but I just saw it.

I think you're really discounting the unique circumstances of a player like him getting drafted into a surprisingly good playoff team.
You say that he could've worked his way into the lineup, and the fact he didn't, is proof that he can't get it together... but look at our roster, and tell me how he could do it considering how deep our roster was last year.

He is now in a situation that will show his true colours. You might be perfectly right that he is immature and a KPJ 2.0, but he never got those opportunities that KPJ got time and time again in Cleveland and Houston.

Tristan Vukcevic hit all his shots, never missed in 16 minutes and got Minus 30......it is not telling in miniscule sample size.

Toronto went on 2-3 massive runs, and those guys happened to be on court.

Wizards just happened to suddenly and collectively withdraw their starters.

They did win 2 Quarters by 7 points and lost by 1 point in the end.

Cam’s opponents going on a massive run while Cam is on the court may not be as much of a coincidence as it seems.

Last season I came to the same conclusion the Rockets likely did, he will never have the mind for the game to be a truly impactful player.

He very well could put it together to carve out a JR Smith like career, or eventually learn to commit himself to doing other things to become a viable solid NBA player, but that's not a guy you hold onto tightly. The juice isn't worth the squeeze in regards to giving him developmental minutes.

Cam still trying .... the Wizards are so bad that you don't know if Whitmore is the detriment or their entire team.

Was easy to tell on the Rockets....

i understand cam is young, but going from learning in a winning situation to playing in a situation where they dont care if you are -27 is sad to me. If cam would have just kept his head down, he would started playing as a rocket.

And that should convince me, I actually revisited it, they just took him off the court when they made their run.

He isn't a team player, we all know that, he is a goon off the bench but he wasn't put with the best teammates named McCollum and Khris Middleton.

Whitmore had a lot of haters even with Jalen Green still here, and still has, the problem is that they don't even give him a chance.

Jalen was given a 4 year leash..... should be a clean slate after the Ime run in.

His game is the physical game and he should attack the rack every time he got.

    Ummmmm.

The reason Cam had a -27 is he offered no help defense to speak of and jogged it out, especially during his first half "run." His box score was a complete set of zeroes except for the -17 next to his name: no boards, assists, shots, steals, blocks, etc. He might have inbounded ball, but otherwise he didn't touch it. He really offered nothing in that role (which was sort of small forward, space the floor, do the dirty work position). Let's not make excuses and blame this on Raptor runs that took place while he was on the court.

Granted, he showed a little more interest in the second half, dribbling the ball up a couple of times, putting his head down as only Cam can do, and jockeying for a few boards.

Pure and simple, he's too much of inconsistent/immature player to have much of long term impact on winning. It might go too far to call him a head case that can't get out of his own way, but for a guy with his loads of talent, he's still has lots to figure out. Maybe he will.

bruh. Cam doesnt care about the little things and clearly preseason is one of those things. i fully expect him to care about the regular season after not caring about the little things that can make him a great player.

I saw highlights only and it was pretty low for Cam, giving up on plays, not boxing out, trying to leak out. He still hasn’t learned anything about doing things to win.
