Can't see who you guys are talking to, but I only can't see people who have a pattern of awful post...And judging by the responses seems like things haven't changed... https://www.si.com/college/kentucky/mbb/aggression-shot-ability-antonio-reeves-new-offensive-heights https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...inois-state-play-basketball-kentucky-wildcats https://www.si.com/college/kentucky...heeler-fredrick-unavailable-mississippi-state https://www.nationofblue.com/kentuc...tournament-hopes-in-jeopardy/#google_vignette https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/dont-overthink-antonio-reeves https://www.on3.com/teams/kentucky-wildcats/news/cason-wallace-antonio-reeves-point-guard/ LOL @ anyone thinking Reeves was a PG or played anything like a PG...You've got no clue what you're talking about.
We have to start him no matter what. Give him 35 minutes and see how it goes. In december we will be eligable to trade for a 12 mil contract. Reee should either prove that he is tje starting material or we should shine him to make useful asset in a trade. We lost Cam for nothing. If we have given Cam 30 mins last year, we could get a lot more in return. We should not make the same mistake
Cam doesn't have much value in today’s market, especially given his attitude. In my opinion, Stone made the move before we ended up getting absolutely nothing for Cam. At least now we have something, which is better than nothing. Cam also isn’t a good fit for this roster, he’s a ball stopper. If we bring in another guard, that player needs to be a pass-first type, so Cam wouldn’t solve any of our issues. Plus, the team doesn’t want to deal with any childish behavior that could harm locker room chemistry. That’s for sure.
Cam did not belong here. It was the right call to send him. My point is, if basketball is a business, you should try to maximize your assets. Last year Cam could be given more time and we could get more than two trash picks in return. We would like Reed to be part of our team then give him the starting position. If we don't believe in him and want to trade him in december, well start him again and increase his value
I too was hoping Cam Whitmore would play more in his second season. But the Rockets were in the midst of a playoff run, and they needed all gears running. Unfortunately, Cam was still in “me, myself, and I mode”, no defense and never pass. So much talent, yet so much disdain for what the Rockets were trying to do.
Ime would never give Cam the minutes he wants or the minutes we think he deserves, simply because he doesn’t put in enough effort on defense and hasn’t shown any improvement with the opportunities he’s had. Reed is a different case as the third pick, and I feel his work ethic is much stronger than Cam’s. He just needs more experience and confidence. Ime also mentioned in a press conference that it’s time for Reed to play, which is why he was in the starting lineup during the previous preseason games.
I think most of us, including the players, understands by now that if you don’t put in the effort on defense, you simply don’t exist for Ime. Jalen might be the one exception, but even he has shown noticeable improvement on the defensive end under Ime.
In the clips posted to YouTube today, it looks like Adams running with the starters instead of Reed. Might mean they try double big with the starters, might mean nothing.
To be fair, the dude posted a video of Reed playing as a PG to prove that he wasn't a PG, so I think that last sentence was already a given lmao.
I can’t wait for the season to start and we can see how much Reed has improved. Enough to deserve to start? Enough to not trade for a veteran point guard mid season? I don’t know. I do know that this Ime will try to win every game and that Reed’s playing time will depend on him helping the Rockets win (according to Ime). I feel like this team has 2017/18 and 1993/94 potential. I am looking forward to real games and the Rockets getting off to a good start. I expect Sheppard to be much improved along with the other young players.
I think what Reed did or played in HS or one year at Kentucky are not so important now, except to understand he's had limited experience and like most young players needs time and minutes to develop his game at this level. He's in his 2nd year in the NBA and is being groomed as a lead guard. He's got the BBIQ, court vision/instincts, passing ability, shooting skills, penetration chops, and has improved his defensive positioning (along with having exceptional hands). As he gains more experience and increases his confidence with the lineup, his skillset will make us a better and even more dynamic team. With Alpi's and Amen's growth we're going to be much better. Add an all-time scorer like KD and we can be special. But Stone didn't stop there, he fed Ime's hunger for defense with DFS, Josh and Clint. Couple that with Bari getting stronger and improving his ability to finish, and Tari being Captain Chaos, we need Reed's talents to compliment and stabilize this team. I believe he can be that missing ingredient to some very special sauce that this team can cook opponents with. Really excited to get this season underway!
Reeves the senior "PG" had 1.6 assists while taking 14 FGAs in 31 minutes per game. Shepperd the freshman "SG" had 4.5 assists while taking 8 FGAs in 29 minutes per game.
That is probably because that is not defining him.....CP3 was the floor general since his childhood for example, or at least very very early in high school. Some folks have it in them early on, some don't, some develop it, some wouldn't, we all have to accept. The Rockets are merely a strange place that want to transform every dribbler into a PG since I can remember.
Lol, so what? Has Reed shown the ability to be a lead guard? Before last season, Sheppard averaged over 8 assists a game in his Jr/Sr HS years and led Kentucky in assists despite coming in off the bench. His history says, "Yes", but most of the debate on CF has been either he's a SG first or he can't handle it well enough or he'll be exploited on defense. Just watch him play. He doesn't have to be Chris Paul to make us a better team. Let's let Reed be Reed, and see what he can become and how he can help us win games.
Like I said previously, I don't need to insult others to get MY view point across but some people do, to reflect the level of intelligence. However, thanks for making my point by supplying all the information on Antonio Reeves. I think its clear why Calipari chose him to start.....IT WAS HIS EXPERIENCE. If you know basketball or any sport for that matter, a coach is always, always going to go with a player who has the most experience! The same for Ime! Its not that FVV is such an awesome player, its that he has experience, its the reason Ime brought him here and the same reason Calipari brought in Antonio Reeves. The only reason a coach will start a freshman or a player with less experience is if he is the next coming of MJ, Magic, Bird or CLEARY better. Reed wasn't that in college and he's not that now! If you go back and look at Reed Sheppard's box scores, he was highly inconsistent and he is the same as of now. Thats why Calipari didn't start him then and why Ime hasn't named him the 5th starter as of yet. I heard Ime had Adams working with the starters as recent as yesterday. A coach, ANY coach perfers and covets CONSISTENCY over anything else. Lastly, thanks again for all your due diligence in proving my point. And there's no need to discuss further because, as we know rarely on this board does any change their mind.
I mean it would help tho... I agree with you. He's got a lot of potential to be many things but let's focus on what he is now and how that can contribute to wins. Regardless of role or playing time, I'd like to see him hit open shots and attack closeouts. Anything he does on top of that is tasty gravy but the thing that brought him to the dance is hitting threes. As much as I'd like him to run offense or fulfill pipe dream potential, really I just want him out there hitting 40% from three on decent volume. If he competently delivers the possession into the correct hands, or dishes an assist, or attacks off the bounce, or plays rugged little man FVV defense too? Tasty gravy. When he starts doing *all* of those things I'll entertain the wild projection discussion.
He completely disproved your point, by showing he's a SG. You're actually looking like an legit crazy person keeping acting like things are the opposite to the way they are, just so you know.
I honestly believe the problem is dishonesty. He knows he's wrong, he just doesn't have the character to admit it.... even if it's obvious to everyone in the world. It is what it is.
