Hinch f*cked it by pulling Skubal. Dumbass. Dusty is the better manager.

Sometimes you just got a horseshoe up your ass, such is life. That ridiculous check swing double of scubal was such a joke.

At least Scubal will be well rested for his next start

Skubal probably finishes that 9 inning 1 run and 15 or 15 ks. Could have been one of the greatest playoff games pitched.

Both teams did, really. Great post season drama; I miss it, but probably a nice break for my heart (and liver).

Skubal pulls himself from games according to the broadcast. I guess Hinch could tell him no, go blow your arm out.

He threw over 100 pitches 8 times in 67 starts over '24/25.

He has no cruise control...he goes all-out for as long as he can, then says "I'm done"

He was at 99 pitches in 6 innings. How would he go 9? That’s insane

I'm sure Hinch wanted Skubal fresh for Free Agency after next year before he signs with another team :)

Managers seem to go nuts and feel the need to overmanage their pitching staff in the postseason. Pulling starters after 4 or 5 innings because they've given up 1 run is nonsensical unless you have 5 bullpen guys you trust to all be on their A-games. Today, Milwaukee is going to start their closer for no reason while they have Misiorowski - a guy who's actually started games and is on 4 days' rest since pitching in game 2 - just hanging out.

    That strikes me as strange.

    Unless there's some matchup reasons?

While I agree it is silly that the game management radically changes in this format… it is also simultaneously true that the game does radically change due to this format.

All the pitchers negative tendencies during the regular season are amplified/over-scrutinizied (i.e. - handedness, numbers 2nd or 3rd time through, pitch types, etc.). The hitters charts are as defined as ever so it really boils down to pitchers executing… and if they feel execution goes down after a certain amount of pitches or innings, you’re going to see this effect. Hitters also aren’t going to “waste” a post-season AB as much as they may a regular season one, so said charts may not always hold true as much.

When 1 game is basically worth ~ 30 regular season games in this format… and you’re not necessarily trying to manage guy to get them through 6 months worth of games… I’ve accepted that the final product should change.

(But I agree, there’s also going to be some boneheaded managerial decisions or over-thinking to the max).

I think it must be because the cubs have drawn blood in the first inning many games. Edit - cubs scored 4 and 3 runs in first inning of games 3 and 4. Brewers never recovered from those deficits.

Cubs had a golden opportunity and Tuck came up short with 2 men on and no outs with a terrible at-bat. I got flashbacks to his ‘23 postseason where it looked like he hated baseball and would rather be anywhere else.

Sorry but in the post season Tucker is a JAB (just another bat).

No way you pay big money for him.

I think he just cost himself a lot of money. Somebody will still foolishly pay good money for an oft injured non effective post season bat. Hard pass.
