Tbf he has lots of Scoring guard in him than traditional playmaker.....he can still pass very well though.

Kentucky used him as a 2 Guard who can shoot and pass.....

Weird comments like this make me think either these types never watched him play, or don't know what a PG is.

That's something I've been thinking about while watching Sheppard lately. It looks like he should aggressively look for his shot more like an SG, rather than feeling so pressured to playmake like a traditional PG.

His making the right moves off-the-ball and shooting at a respectable percentage might be more important to the offensive flow. And probably closer to how he played in college.

Kentucky used him correctly, because he is naturally a shooting guard! The Rockets are trying to make him a PG.

FVV, Brunson and other players of that elk all played PG in highschool and college. They were PGs who became better scores....THATS THE DIFFERENCE.

Having a SG play PG is not easy and although I dont agree with every Ime decision, I know if its not working, he will eventually make a change.

If Reed wasnt played like a pg at Kentucky, then who was their pg?

Keep in mind whoever you say averaged less assist than Reed did.

Solid question. I think the issue is the damage that ball dominant combo guards have done to the idea of what a PG actually is. Guys who think Russell Westbrook is an actual PG when he's always really been just a small SG that can pass are likely the kind who struggle to understand what an actual PG is and isn't.

Anyone who actually watched Kentucky realized that Reed played as their PG (off the bench, because their head coach was a moron) and Rob Dillingham played as a ridiculously short combo guard (off the bench, because their head coach was a moron).

A PG isn't the guy who goes 1 on 5 playing hero ball looking primarily for their own shot.....it's really flashy, but that's not the role of a traditional PG.

The Kentucky bench guard duo was like if you had Chris Paul and a 6'0 Russell Westbrook playing together.

Reed needs to stop passing up open shots. Ime needs to let him know he has the greenlight.
