gonna miss Fred's steady hand but Sengun as the playmaker makes the team more dynamic for sure. Ime used Fred as a crutch; ime has no choice but to give Alpi the rock now.

I mean, with a much improved Sengun, and KD the best scorer in the world, the offense looks better. Who’d have thought?

i think if ime went full senhub last year rockets would have had a passable offense.

More importantly, the reps JG got last year are now being given to ALP, KD, and Amen. JG was a horrendous initiator.

It's better without FVV jacking a bunch of bad shots, as he sometimes did last season. The version of him that takes care of the ball, distributes and takes what the defense gives him would make this offense better.

Our ceiling is higher without FVV, but our floor is also lower. I'll take that trade since we are trying to win a championship. To win a championship we'll need outstanding contributions from Amen and Reed... and this gives them that opportunity. Plus, as was stated, Sengun will have the ball in his hands more without FVV -- a definite upgrade in efficiency.

If we had KD on this team last season instead of Jalen Green we wouldn't be having this discussion...we needed FVV to be a game manager and Jalen Green to be our dynamic playmaker. Unfortunately, Jalen Green was inconsistent and we demanded more from FVV...I would still prefer FVV as my starting point guard over Reed.
Amen should be our "Scottie Pippen" of the team.

Last year without Fred our offense looked TERRIBLE at times. Granted, that was with Green running the show.

This year we will be good with Sengun being our primary playmaker but, I still think we will be bad when Sengun is off the floor. I think Sengun is the key to our team, but when he’s on the bench, we need to figure out how to run a steady offense. We have a bunch C+/B- playmakers so I’m not sure I feel confident in our bench minutes.

at times yes but it’s been way overdue to take off the training wheels. his contract is worth 2 or 3 decent role players my god.

Not missing JG's horrible efficiency or FVV's inability to notice Jabari was on the floor and available to shoot.

Loved all those games last year where the final stat line was Jabari 2/4 from 3, while JG was like 3/13 and FVV was 4/14. Did it never occur to those mofos they could let the 6'11" guy having a good shooting night get some of those attempts to build a wall of bricks that JG and FVV gave themselves?

I'm okay with giving up and scoring more points in the regular season. But in the post season, I wanna see stifling defense and expanded rotation and KD scoring 40/game. You replace last year's Jalen Green with KD and we'd be in the finals.

Replacing Jalen Green with Kevin Durant also helps.

Whatever situation allows Amen Thompson to bring the ball up the floor is ok by me.

Dude treats defenders like traffic cones.

It's too soon to make conclusions, but still making conclusions,
    1. KD looks like a much-needed closer
    2. Sengun looks amazing
    3. Amen is looking better with the ball in his hands, even if shaky at times.
    4. Reed seems to have more off-ball gravity than FVV, despite FVV having a lot of it.
    5. JSJ has been making his threes and showing a little more dribbling (still worse than Tari's right hand)
If the Rockets start Reed, I expect it will hurt the defense more than the offense in the short term relative to what I expected if FVV was healthy.

Perfect. Aligns exactly with what I said would happen all off-season and through 2 pre-season games.

I didn't want FVV gone. I just wanted him to not shoot a bunch of 3s when he's not hot and then Jabari is on the floor and the floor general isn't trying to get him the ball. Not sure if that was a FVV issue or an Udoka offensive scheming issue.

...and replaced a similar-usage player with roughly the same role who very, very much was not that.
