Trump has tuned the DOJ into her personal law firm to punish his enemies for daring to stand up to his brazen lawlessness.

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/09/politics/letitia-james-grand-jury-trump-indictment

New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted Thursday in Alexandria, Virginia, as President Donald Trump’s Justice Department continues to pursue charges against his political opponents, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

James has been under investigation since May over a 2023 mortgage she took out to help her niece buy a home in Norfolk, Virginia.

The charges come as Trump continues to call for his enemies to be prosecuted in court. Former FBI Director James Comey pleaded not guilty Wednesday to allegedly making a false statement in a congressional proceeding. The Justice Department has also opened investigation into former Trump national security adviser John Bolton, California Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff, and others.

James’ relationship with Trump has been adversarial for years as James campaigned on promises to investigate Trump and ultimately won a civil fraud case against Trump, his adult sons and his real estate business. A judge found them liable for fraud for inflating the value of their properties, and ordered Trump to pay $355 million in penalties. Trump has appealed.

Is there a list somewhere of Trump’s campaign promises and him doing the opposite once he got elected?

For first time the polar opposite is true. They've been losing at a historical rate.

How is this surprising to you when these grand jury pools are comprised overwhelmingly of liberals? It just goes to show how biased and dishonorable liberal jurors are. Look at the stats on black jurors -- they rarely convict other blacks but convict whites at super high rates -- same thing is true politically. The DC area has always made a mockery out of the court system with its bias.

Of course, the Democrats attempted to take advantage of this liberal bias in NY, DC, VA, etc, by prosecuting Republicans there in political sham trials... All of this is why government needs to be moved out of DC and into more purple areas. To have a representative bureaucracy and legal system.

What does grand juries declining to indict have to do with federal conviction rates? She is indicted so the odds are bleak.

Politically motivated cases are weak. Federal prosecutors traditionally have a very high conviction rate because they do not push weak cases.

    Good.

    Exactly what she deserves.

Her prosecution of Trump/his businesses/his family was entirely politically motivated.

Now the shoe is on the other foot and it’s awesome to see.

Trump did commit egregious crimes that couldn’t be ignored, hell he’s doing it on a daily basis now. Shitheads like you and @Astrodome voted to put him back in the game. You’re both gonna be fuming when they lose these weak ass cases but that’s the least of our problem as a country right now.

What makes you think the DOJ doesn’t against her?

She was indicted by a grand jury of her peers.

I don’t care if the DOJ loses the case.

James is going to pay a price either way.

Exactly what she deserves for doing the exact same thing against Trump.

A nakedly partisan prosecution entirely motivated by her politics.

Awesome to see her reap what she sowed.

Just an old Biden not realizing he broadcast a message to the entire world. Good thing the nuclear codes aren’t something you can accidentally post online. But if that feels like a relief - well, maybe think again.

Inside the Justice Department Where the President Calls the Shots - WSJ

On Sept. 20, Trump meant to send a private message to Attorney General Pam Bondi urging her to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey and his other favored targets, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter. “We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility,” Trump wrote.

Trump believed he had sent Bondi the message directly, addressing it to “Pam,” and was surprised to learn it was public, the officials said.

She brought a New York civil fraud case in which Trump was found to have inflated the value of his assets on financial statements to secure favorable loans, get better insurance rates, and bolster his public image as a successful businessman.

The court found that he committed persistent fraud over at least 10 years and intentionally misrepresented the value of his assets. As a result, he, his company, and several executives were ordered to pay around $355 million in penalties, and he was barred from running any New York business for three years.

This was a case that stood on its own legal merit, backed by overwhelming evidence.

OTOH, the case against her was accidentally broadcast to the world by him as part of a vindictive payback effort. He hasn’t exactly been shy about targeting his perceived political enemies. Now, maybe there's strong legal merit in this case... but I doubt it, given the simple fact that he pressured AG Pam to pursue it.

It’s a bad look to have the DOJ digging for crimes like renting a second home and actually paying taxes correctly on it.

The alleged crime is she knew she was going to rent it when she signed her mortgage which means the case has no basis. You do not need to refinance a mortgage if you decide to rent. Or else millions of Americans who are also landlords are all criminals.

It’s retribution from a spiteful petty dying old man.

    [IMG], you've been under-informed

Erik Seibert. a MAGA supporter, had been a federal prosecutor in Virgin since 2010; on 21 Jan 2025, Trump
appointed him as interim US attorney for the Eastern Virginia district

Trump had tasked him to prosecute Letitia James/Schiff/Comey.

When Seibert concluded that there is insufficient evidence for prosecution, Trump fired him.

Trump proceeded to announce Seibert's replacement, White House aide Lindsey Halligan, who has no prosecution experience.
