Definitely a worthy back up PG. Feel for the game, play within himself, very team oriented player. Have found his shooting stroke. High level of Energy, IQ, winning determination and attitude. All the good intangibles will make him a good team player.

I don't think the Rockets can convert him until mid-December anyway.

We have 1,255M room before the Apron, so just over half a year of minimum salary available.
My understanding is that Davison has 3 years of service, so minimum salary is the 2,296M.
So that would mean 6.5 months of salary is available ( = mid-December)

    I could be wrong

JD's our new victory cigar, except he's actually playable with the bench unit.

no reason to when you have the opportunity to stash him when you need to. midway through the season if he proves himself? maybe.

    I think by season’s end:

    1. Amen Thompson
    2. Dorian Finney-Smith
    3. Kevin Durant
    4. Jabari Smith Jr.
    5. Alperen Sengun

    6. Tari Eason
    7. Steven Adams
    8. Reed Sheppard
    9. Clint Capela
    10. JD Davison
    11. Josh Okogie
    12. Aaron Holiday
    13. Jae’Sean Tate

    14. Jeff Green (IR)
    15. Fred VanVleet (IR)
    16. Isaiah Crawford (2-Way)

** Tari starts when KD rests
** Uncle Jeff gets activated when KD or Adams rest

He had the highest +/- of anyone on the team last night. And he just looks so under control out there. I really think they may have found a quality NBA rotation level point guard, and that would be huge after the Fred injury. If both he and Reed prove to be ready for the NBA, we're going to be golden.

he just looks like he belongs
plus, he might be the only pass first playmaker on the team, he has already made several plays in 2 games that set his teammates open for an easy look - especially with a rim runner like Clint

I think he'll have plenty of opportunities to try and earn the contract between now and December, just out of necessity. He doesn't look out of place as a PG though, which weirdly is something we've just not really had outside of FVV the last few years. It's weird how it goes like that, we went from one of the all-time great playmakers in Beard, to a transition period where we did technically have John Wall and Oladipo and then pretty much nobody who you'd trust with a ball apart from FVV at the guard spots for years. It's like after Yao, we went from having a huge giant to then loads of mediocre undersized bigmen. It felt like we just kept drafting 6'8 guys with different names in our perennial 8/9 seed spots too haha. Weird how it goes like that.

The good old days of the Chuck Wagon as our starting big man, at 6’6.

Chuck is a legend! I remember every single year they would bring in guys who were supposed to take his spot, and every year he would beat them out. I loved that guy. Would not be out worked or out hustled.

He looks much different than he did at bama so it took me a minute to remember his goaltending shenanigans.

Yep. He's the guy that robbed UH.

Sign him to a long contract and keep his ass in the RGV forever. **** him.

I don't want to get too excited about the 15 roster spot. Early returns look like he could be an emergency PG. I would say he's got a better chance than anyone else at the 15th spot once the Rockets can afford a minimum. Not sure if he has better odds than the field though.
