ClutchFans Game Thread: Hawks @ Rockets 10/6/2025 (Preseason)

You guys are really overreacting to a few iffy moments with the ball by Amen. He pretty much got to the rim whenever he wanted, missed some bunnies, and passed when he should have shot a few times. Sheppard was fine and did well off of picks. He’ll get a few opportunities each game to initiate the offense. Sengun, Amen, and Durant will still be playing that role the majority of the time. I said it earlier, Amen will have some jitters in his new role for a bit. His jump shot looks way better. Sengun was great,

Holiday is still the 3rd string chucker he’s always been. I don’t get too excited about guys like JD who might be able to make the team, but will ride the bench all year. Capella and Adam’s showed they can both give some good minutes. Like to see some Sheppard/Capella pick and roles. We do need another backup combo guard which should have been Sheppard’s role, but now he is going to have to start.

Jabari is stronger and more confident. He has improved his handles, but they are never going to be great. He certainly will be a + starter for us. Durant will spread the floor incredibly for us. It looks like to me that both Sengun and Amen are going to be able to knock down uncontested 3’s which will be huge for the offense. We miss FVV on defense, because his good defense on the ball handlers allowed Amen to freelance. Amen is going to have to stay glued to the good PGs in the league this year.

 

Let’s relax on criticizing Amen’s ball handling, if KD was out there, the defense wouldn’t have been able to put that much pressure on him when he drove inside. I’d rather see Amen make all his mistakes now, before the season starts, and get those growing pains out of the way.

I dont think anyone is overeacting on Amen. He never really looked that good at point. That was the focus tonight. No one is saying he's gonna be a bad player because of tonight but running the offense he still doesnt like all that right. Reed looks iffy running the show too. They both look more like they would prefer to be off the ball scorers than playmakers.

 

Amen is a guy who can play point, but he’s not a point. Not really. I’m still not sure what he is other than a damn good basketball player.

 

Amen is like a Pippen or Drexler type who can handle the ball, but is not suited to be a full time PG. Good at attacking, but not someone who should consistently set up the offense.

 

It felt really good watching this game without seeing Jalen out there.

 

Amen is a third year player working on playing full time NBA PG. It's the first preseason game, let guys develop over the full season or seasons

Not sure what game yall were watching but Reed did not look good

1-4 from 3 with 3 turnovers and -6 on the court

10 turnovers for Amen, Reed & Holiday combined and those 3 will handle the rock most of the time is a concern

Also it's preseason so while Holiday was horrible today, yall over reacting when he has proven to be efficient before during the season

 

Reed looked as good as Trae, so I'll take that.

 

Reed is getting that Stockton build, which, if it translates into his career frame, we should all be excited about.

 

Look how far out theyre guarding Sengun after he hit those threes.

If hes making defenders hug him on the 3pt line its game over.

 

That's sounded encouraging yet I don't think Stockton was buff, he was built like Steve Nash, lean.
