The “medbed” conspiracy theory is popular among QAnon followers who believe militaries around the world secretly possess top-secret devices that can diagnose and cure any disease, reverse aging and regrow missing limbs.

If Medbeds were real, Trump wouldn't be deteriorating before our eyes. Probably just his shout-out to Q, like his daughter-in-law who also talked about them on her Fox News show.

What a disgusting way to commemorate our country with a pathological lying traitor, con, and hate-fueled revenge seeker who says he hates the half of our country who doesn't support his MAGA mindset.

$150B of our money, taxpayer money. The vast majority of people do not support this waste, abuse, and violation of basic decency and rights. Future Congresses need to claw back that money, expose the full extent of the violations, and reform the entire structure.

What they should do and will do are very different.

I don’t have any issue with a government entity tasked with finding dangerous non citizens in the USA and extracting them.

I do have an issue when it takes massive amounts of the budgets of other agencies, has zero accountability, targets women and children and is used as a bully for the President.

That's disgusting! He spews the same hate in every speech, like a skipped record. He is nothing but a man who tries to use his platform everywhere he speaks to divide our country. What a horrible leader for the United States of America. He is the opposite of unite. He's all about dividing everyone into two categories, MAGA or what he calls the enemy.

I know I've said it before but they are him.

Sure, every great once and a while one of them might express a tiny bit of regret, or confess that Trump's maybe not the best person in the world. But make no mistake, no matter the suffering others go through because of Trump and his policies, they're on board with it. All of it. It's all going to benefit them after all.

Nonsense is an understatement. He is a spoiled brat man child acting as immature and sickening as any President I've seen in my lifetime. He's so full of himself it's pathetic to hear the delusional crap pouring out his mouth. His demands are just disgusting. With Trump its "Love me, lie for me, suck up to me and praise me, or I'm going to come after you!"

What do you guys think the founding fathers would do about Trump?

I believe they would be pretty harsh.

When we're broke, we will be too worried about paying the utility bills and not getting evicted to put any energy into fighting fascism. That's the problem democracy is facing -- when we're making money, we don't want to rock the boat by opposing authoritarianism, and when we're not making money, we don't have the means to oppose authoritarianism. Fascism has a structural advantage over liberalism in the struggle for power. It is faster, more agile, more efficacious, and more fun for the people in the in-crowd. Now that the process has begun, I don't foresee it reversing.

The U.S. has a structural advantage against fascism. Federalism.

The midterm election could halt the process.

Could in theory. House races are gerrymandered in both directions, but Republicans have the net advantage of gerrymandering and pushing to expand it. Per Cook Report, Republicans already likely to win 215 seats without trying and just need to pick up 3 of the 18 up for grabs to keep the majority. They are also likely to maintain control of the Senate, keep the majority of governorships, and of course still have the SCOTUS. And the Republicans at every level (except a few rogue House members voting to release the Epstein files) are deathly afraid of opposing Trump lest they be primaried. We are still a year away from midterms but I'm not hopeful.

I hear you and share your pessimism about the federal level. That's exactly why I brought up federalism. Things look bad, but there's still a structural safety valve.

Even if Republicans control Congress, the Senate, and SCOTUS.. and even if the courts completely fail, each state would need to go full authoritarian for democracy to be completely lost... and that's much harder to pull off than federal capture. States with strong democratic institutions or democracy-loving officials at the state level can still protect civil liberties, refuse cooperation with federal overreach, and maintain fair local elections. That creates friction and buys time for a turnaround, even if it's painful and slow.

It's not ideal, but it's a real check that doesn't exist in centralized systems.

It's a good point and I appreciate you. At the same time, I have to point out how Texas will be sending their National Guard to occupy Chicago and it isn't clear what the hell Illinois can do to resist it. Meanwhile the federal government is blackmailing states by leveraging the federal funding mechanisms, to say nothing of the blackmail of universities, media companies, and other institutional pillars of liberal democracy. But yes, some states may still choose their own state leadership that have some remnants of their own power.
