Yes but he is mostly a jumpshooter now. Now that we've lost Jalen Green and FVV there is no one else who can penetrate or run PnR. Dillon Brooks is also an underrated scorer.

Wow, it’s amazing how some of you guys were willing to give Jalen Green a 5th year even with all of the playing time as a starter and a long leash but for Reed it’s sink or swim by December 15th and he needs to go, smh….

Sounds like you are remembering the idea of Jalen and Fred vs what they actually were.

Context. You can give an underperforming player a long leash and a lot of time to develop when you're going to suck anyway. You can't afford to do that on a contending team. I was wholly onboard with trading away JG by the way.

Also, context in the sense that Jalen was the second pick in a normal or pretty good draft class, Reed was the third pick in possibly the worst draft class of the decade. There was more perceived upside with Jalen, rightly or wrongly.

I think Ime is dialing up the pressure on Reed to see how he responds. I’m sure he very much wants to be the starter which is putting him in a stressful situation. If he performs well in the pre-season, even if not clearly the best of the competition, I think he gets the nod. Ime also left the door open for having some different starting lineups based on matchups. I never played organized ball past Jr. high, so I don’t know how practical that is or if you need to stick with one unit longer to build synergy. Maybe somebody more experienced could shed some light?

I think to start you should be capable of playing B2Bs.

I think that actually could work out well for Reed, he went to a blue blood let's not forget. Those guys tend to be very good moving in and out of eclectic lineups because they're in programs that can easily have half their squad be a one and done and disappear after their rookie season. It's different than the guys who go to a college as "the man" where it's all just giving them the keys, sometimes you might have 2-3 top prospects all on the one roster competing for stats to impress the scouts. I feel like with his work ethic or attitude the whole situation of putting him under pressure to see if he bends or breaks might be the opportunity he really needs to start gaining consistency. He's like the opposite of Jalen, a high iq, high fundamental player who hasn't been given any real leash to get comfortable and start leveraging his skills.

I think the main issue here is that Rondo was already good at basketball. Reed still has to figure that out before he’s at rookie Rondo level.

A bust in a "normal" draft class doesn't deserve more of a leash than the best player in what some are calling a "weak" draft class.

Also, that "normal" class is looking a lot like only Sengun and Mobley, though Cade is looking better after 3 awful seasons.

Are we really saying that you give a draft bust more leeway to suck due to 2 or 3 other guys not sucking?

There was never any upside with Jalen, just the same people who fall for every flashy athlete fooled themselves into thinking otherwise..... just like those who fell for Scoot Henderson.

Plenty of people knew those guys were busts waiting to happen.

Maybe those types aren't the best at projecting who has upside and who doesn't.

That's certainly one issue, but i think a bigger issue is that he just doesn't add anything to the starting group that they need.

You can hate on Jalen and Fred all you want but the truth of the matter is that we don’t have many penetrators.

Tari not settling for 6th man of the year. If the door ain’t open, he gonna bust through anyway. Tari on a mission this year. Pay him or suffer the consequences. He’s a different cat.

You might as well be saying " hate on Jeenathan Williams and Daishen Nix all you want but the truth of the matter is that we don't have many penetrators"

    It's just nonsensical.

    Couple of things.

    1. Tari adds nothing to the starting unit.

    2. Someone that injury prone has no business trying to bust down doors... he'll just end up missing 40 games as a result.
