The historic drop in crime continues. The phenomenon of being out of sync with reality is evident here too. Similar to the economy, perceptions of crime do not match the data. FBI's latest data shows 'historic' drop in crime: Garland - ABC News (go.com) The first three months of 2024 saw a continued drop in levels of violent crime and murder across the country, according to data released by the FBI on Monday -- a trend that Attorney General Merrick Garland called "historic." Reported incidents of violent crime dropped 15% between January and March of this year compared to the same period last year, according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Data. Murders dropped by more than 26% in the same time period, the data shows. The FBI has not released details about the number of incidents for the categories of crime. It will do so when 80% participation levels are met, the agency said. "This data makes clear that last year's historic decline in violent crime is continuing," Garland said in a statement highlighting the new statistics. "This continued historic decline in homicides does not represent abstract statistics. It represents people whose lives were saved -- people who are still here to see their children grow up, to work toward fulfilling their dreams, and to contribute to their communities." ... Still, perception of crime often does not match up with the numbers. More than three-quarters of Americans said that there is more crime in the U.S. than a year ago and more than half of Americans said the same about crime in their local area, according to a Gallup poll from November. The data from the FBI also shows that reported incidents of rape dropped by 25% from last year, robbery dropped by more than 17%, and aggravated assault fell by more than 12%. Property crime similarly dropped by more than 15%, according to the data. Some crime data experts have cautioned not to rely too much on the FBI's numbers, noting their largely preliminary nature that only covers roughly 77% of the nation's total population -- even if their broader assessment of decreasing crime across the country rings true.
it’s nothing but low IQ MAGA fear mongering…it’s all they’ve got listen to them, and I should be incredibly afraid the minute I leave my house…these losers live in an alternate reality and just spew lie after lie to their deplorable base who eats it up no questions asked…so easy to deceive, so easy to manipulate
I thought this article was interesting since no one talks about failures in liberal drug reform. The liberal platform approach to drug addicts and homeless is like a treating and infantilizing them as a higher form of "cute wild animal" where if you let the Cute Wild Animal be or enrich it to its fullest potential, you could hug and kiss them like teddy bears. There's no bearing with real life experiences or actionable data in these progressive reforms. The public commons and the civil servants enacting these mandates are paying the price if the people directly arent. Why Oregon’s Drug Decriminalization Failed

I love when a softie Steven miller talks like a tough guy. Dude has literally never done anything in his life but talk ****. Reminded of the story of Heinrich Himmler visiting the concentration camps he was so proud of and puking his guts out at the reality. I would pay lots of money to see him in a room alone with a bunch of hostile violent MS-13 members, so Steven Miller can once-and-for-all us all exactly how "ruthless" he really is.
Got Drunk, trying to fight a guy, got pepper-sprayed and when he stil didn't stop...got stabbed. Got arrested. LOL. You were so sure it was a person of color in the wrong, weren't you? LOL Typical Bigot.
You've never carried a pocket knife or a Leatherman? I mean, I wouldn't take one to a gunfight, but it's not a weird thing to have around.
I believe I could shoot someone before stabbing them. Stabbing is vicious. It’s normally the act of an aggressor. Not always though, as this case may prove.
I never said this situation was a gunfight, just that it's not strange to have a knife on your person. Pulling one out and going full stabby is a whole 'nother thing.
I carry a pocket folder with me everywhere, just for knife things, like cutting open boxes. If someone attacked me i would absolutely use it to defend myself over using my fists. If some random combative drunk started trying to throw down with me for no apparent reason and I felt genuinely life-and-limb threatened I'd probably pull it out without much actual thought. Also even in states where you dont need a carry permit, it illegal to carry a gun in a bar. Obviously drinking was at least tangentally involved, though I haven't seen details, but i don't think there is any restrictions on knives in bars.
