Sometimes I wonder what their stats would be if they played at a friendlier home ball park.

They repeatedly got screwed by the umps against Atlanta pitching. Would never fly today.

I'm betting Dana will be targeting Ranger Suarez and Michael King to add to the rotation. Maybe they aren't ToR types, but they can definitely start Games 2 and 3 of a playoff series for you and perform well.

If these guys cost about $20M AAV each, we would have to clear $10M off the books to stay under the CBT. Trading Dubon and non-tendering Chas/Sanchez probably gets you there.

Good stuff. One could argue that they were more in their primes during the dome years, especially Biggio. Bagwell had like 4 good years in MM before his rapid decline. Maybe his numbers are crazy good at MM if he gets there 2-3 years earlier. I’m not talking counting stats. Just his OPS n stuff

Or maybe great hitters just do what they do wherever they go

Bagwell and Jeter were the 2 best all-around baseball players I got to watch. And Ichiro.

The THREE best ballplayers I got to watch.

I worked at camden yards inaugural 1992 season as a hot dog/beer vendor. Saw a ton of legends play that season. My first Astro game was either 1979 or 1980. I think it was 1980. Got beat soundly by the pirates. Lots of great players in that game. I’m sure you’ve seen just as many, I’m just kinda recounting it all. I saw that ‘86 mets team twice. Saw that ‘85 st louis team in the dome. Saw tony gwynn hit a hr in the dome in 1984 (may have been a grand slam. It was a 5-2 padre win.). Saw nolan face Rose. Saw scott vs gooden.

speaking of which, remember the tough games out west? SF, SD, LA were all tough places to win. We lost a lot of close ones out there in the 80’s.

Day games on the striped field. Just needed one more hit. How did freakin’ Aldrete hit 2 doubles. Hate that ****ing guy.

Brett Butler, 1988, had a career year. Aldrete, Robby Thompson, etc

Their catcher was named Maldonado, iirc

    eta: Will Clark career vs Astros: 124 starts, .327 .416 .592 1.008

I loved that guy and I hated him all at the same time

I will be shocked if Suarez signs with Houston. Hes a surefire QO candidate and will likely get $150M+. Hes only 30 and is coming off a 4 win season.

King is a more likely target. He will not be a QO recipient and is coming off a season where he only made 15 starts (70ip) with a lower k rate than the previous 3 seasons. But he is also entering his age 31 season and I assume will not be looking for a pillow contract. If he wants something like $70M/4yrs I would think that’s a pretty fair deal, but I’m not sure Houston can go much higher than that.

If Bagwell played his entire career in a park similar to Enron. He has 500 homers.

How much longer could bagwell have extended his career if he could've played DH?

I've echoed this too much, but Ichiro and the Kid are my all time favorite non 'Stros. Ichiro was all hustle and heart. Biggio-esque. Wish I'd gotten to see him once.
