You do realize that Cam was no longer satisfied getting limited minutes and thus didn't want to play here anymore and that having a guy who doesn't want to be here wouldn't have been good for team chemistry/the environment/the culture, do you not? As an employer, it's been my experience that as soon as an employee becomes unhappy, you try to come to a resolution with them immediately. However, If it isn't or cannot be resolved, you let them go before they create a toxic environment and everybody becomes unhappy. Also, it's really wild to me how many of you are ready to denigrate the guy who built one of the best team in the league in a few short years when he inherited a total implosion. Is he perfect? Of course not. But he has been absolutely outstanding overall. We still have one of the youngest cores in the league and, at least before the Fred injury, were expected to compete for a championship. I can only imagine how insufferable you guys would be if you were Wizards fans.
"Might" and "early season" suggest a temporary issue that is almost over, rather than the Grim. I find it a little disappointing as he's past the 18-month mark since the surgery, which suggests he was played too much last season. I just find it odd how many people expect a player not to perform worse/need load management after a surgery, but slowly get better.
I expected it. I just think everyone saying we need to extend him now is working on the assumption that the injury history and prognosis is a non-factor. The Rockets and Eason are the only ones that know what the true situation is in that regard. The fact that they are already saying he will sit on back to backs is an indication that it is still, at the very least, of somewhat concern to the Rockets and probably a contention point in the negotiations of an extension. It is due diligence on their part. I hope he has a long and productive career with the Rockets.
I don't think the injury is a complete non-factor (though I think the Rockets will use it against him). I guess age and Durant are also another issues regarding whether Tari gets extended. Also, "The fact that they are already saying he will sit on back to backs" is not a fact as Udoka said "might". At the beginning of the offseason, I was expecting about $20M AAV for each JSJ and Tari. I thought Tari might get team options thrown on his to cover injury concerns. I thought age, injury would offset Tari being the better player so far (i.e., JSJ has more upside, but lower floor). JSJ got a little more than I expected (this makes me think Stone likes him more than I do). I still think $20M is probably about what Tari should get, but I think that the $20M would need to be first year and not AAV based on what JSJ and Kuminga got. I don't see the Grim.
I have reached pretty much the same conclusion. If necessary, Tari can be part of the package to bring in a high level guard during the season.

Who said that? Dorian being "far below" Brooks as an overall player is an overstatement. I can accept that DFS is not better than Brooks, although I don't agree. But "far below" is a pretty outrageous claim. You are right that DFS can't create. And Brooks can? We all know what happens when Brooks tries to be the hero. We never wanted Brooks to take a lot of shots. He did more than we liked. Sometimes it's necessary because nobody else is hitting shots. Having Durant on the team, we would want even less from him on offense. DFS shooting less with higher efficiency is a much better fit.
So stupid. Let Reed ball and figure it out. Curry wasn’t made overnight. It took years. Reed might pan out sooner but gotta give him the keys to play loose.
To those saying Tari is the trade piece to bring in another guard, he's still on his rookie deal and has a small contract, only $5,675,766. I dunno who they could get for that small amount, I think it's likely someone else - potentially DFS or maybe Jabari. FVV has an implied no trade clause so he's probably out of the trade discussion (so do Holiday & Tate).
I pointed that out in one of these threads. I think Tari is the talent that folks will want, but it will have to be coupled with other assets of which we have few. Reed’s contract number is more conducive to a trade, but if we are looking to get another guard of note, it means he failed so it may mean both would have to go, Tari for his talent and Reed for his cap number. Also depends on how high of a value they are looking for. Maybe they will just be looking for a competent backup. It is possible the trade will center around draft picks, but it would be crazy to trade one of the high value picks for a middlin’ guard.
