Alex Caruso has very ordinary numbers - but he is an excellent fit for OKC and what they will need deep in the playoffs.

He is only playing about 20 minutes a night in the regular season, but it will likely be 30 a night in key playoff series and he will be in the game down the stretch in the 4th quarters.

He is an elite defensive player that makes very few mistakes, he can play multiple roles on offense too - his on/off court splits are massive, like a +12 this year and have been positive every year in the league.

As long as he isn't asked to score a lot - he can do what the Thunder need.

Giddy is a free agent and someone (probably the Bulls) will pay him a lot of money.

Sure but he still aint worth 20M. Its the same for all their role players like Dort and Harty. Yeah theh are great fits, but they should be making half their salary.

I didn't realize how impressive Giddey's post ASB numbers are. 21-10-9 on 51/47/80 splits... damn.

Giddey gets $100M. Caruso gets a ring.

Tell me about it. Good for both sides and it’s hard to believe there were so many people doubting what a great trade this was for OKC.

Was there? Everyone i listen to was (and still is) laughing at the stupidity of the trade for the bulls, i don't think i saw anyone who said it wasn't amazing for OKC.

I would prefer that as well from the player's perspective. From an NBA team-building perspective, I'd rather have Caruso than Giddey on my team.

Caruso got $81 million along with the ring as a 30-year-old.

This is about as pure of an "old school" vs "new school" argument as you can get. The old school people who value ppg and counting stats will always take giddey, the people who value impact stats/analytics will always take caruso. The bulls type teams will take giddey, the OKC/morey types would take caruso.

One guy, at best, might elevate a bad team to mediocre. The other guy is a key role player on a championship roster.

Who would the Rockets, Thunder, Nuggets, Knicks and Cavs rather have? The answer is easy.
