I don't need to *look at shooting percentages* because I can remember last year when Cam started out so poorly - what was he, 0-18 from 3 point line and he was so indifferent and clueless on defense that he was sent to Rio Grande Valley. I have eyes! I have memory. Cam was awful at the beginng of the year, mediocre to average in the middle; he was great in that last week of the season after the Rockets clinched the 2 seed and it was pure chalk till the end.

I can look up the statistics as well as anybody else, if you think Cam Whitmore had a better season by hitting 44% of his shots (in mostly garbage time) instead of 42 % for Green last year and was a better 3 point shooter, for example, because he shot .355 instead of .354 for Green, I don't know what to say.

So, I ask you again, name a single thing Cam Whitmore was better at than Jalen Green? I mean the actual Cam Whitmore who played, not the highlight film version of him from his rookie season.

Defense, lol, no that is what got him exiled. So that is already a whole side of the ball that is out

Shooting, scoring not really. If you're arguing a few percetage points or fractions thereof, it's simply not enough to be better.

Passing, nope the guy is allergic to passing.

    overall intangibles/Attitude - hahaha, it's subtle.

Cam Whitmore is gone, Jalen Green is gone, one was traded for a second round pick as a salary dump, the other has a number of NBA award and was traded for Kevin Durant - it is obvious who was better based on that, even if he wasn' t as good as we wanted him to be.

This is what you said when the Spurs traded for Vasilis Spanoulis who was on the first plane back to Athens.

In any event I cannot think of a less apt comparison on so many levels than Manu Ginobili and Cam Whitmore. Like if you took everything Cam Whitmore did not show as a player and gave him the exact opposite background/play style - he'd be Manu Ginobili.

Who is gonna be next, I'd say Cam Whitmore should be likened to Len Bias, but alive and not dead.

All those other players were because guys ahead of them sucked and I wanted to see them get a shot.

Cam is the first one I have felt has a chance to be special - I could certainly be wrong - but getting rid of him at 20 years old, for nothing is terrible asset management.

And if he turns out as good as I think he will, it is something that gets GMs and Coaches fired - their ENTIRE job is to identify and coach up talent.

We shall see......he will get his minutes in Washington and meanwhile we don't have a SG on the roster.....lol.....ugh.

    Yeah...

So I hate the whole "Defense is effort" I mean partly, yes, but downplaying the skill and knowledge aspect of it means you'll never get better.

Westbrook gave a ton of effort on defense...can't say he ever got better at it. If you're not approaching defensive drills with the drive to improve your footwork, your physicality, and the mental aspect of it you won't get better. Some of it is just natural ability. Like I think Amen and Artest are just natrually gifted defenders.

I will say it is more of a mental skill, Battier was good because he studied his opponents and matchups, Bowen and Beverly were good because they knew how to be pesky and get under your skin.

It's not just effort. Its knowledge and skill too. Effort isn't going to save you from getting crossed over or taken to the rim.

His dribbling was implied. His passing was apocryphal. His defense was bulbous.

I was sad when I heard that Cam got traded, but I think our team chemistry will be stronger than ever because his statement really proves that. I always felt Cam deserved more minutes, especially when someone like Jalen was ahead of him in the rotation, but after hearing him admit his lack of defensive effort, I can’t blame Ime anymore. As a young player who was picked 20th, if you don’t realize that your margin for error is so limited in terms of how you approach the game, then being benched is deserved, lack of effort is simply unacceptable. The strange part is that he was fully aware of this issue but still didn’t do anything to fix it. In a way, he just confirmed why he slipped to the 20th pick in the first place: teams questioned his overall attitude and they were right. It’s unfortunate, I really wish things had turned out differently.

He acts like he's a three level scorer, but that's just not true as well. He can barely create his own shot. It's normal for players to overrate themselves, but this is a bit much. Hopefully, he comes back down to earth soon.

Yes, but you don't trade him at 20 years old......Kobe had the same issues at 20 that Cam had.

Enough from me about Cam, I think people know what I think, I will come back to eat crow or say, see?

This will be an excellent season anyway.

Without even looking at stats I can tell you for certain Cam could attack the basket and play through contact. JG would get bumped by the lightest tough. JG was so brittle

I’m looking forward to Cam matching up against Jalen. Be nice to see him posterize JG
Jalen wasn’t just “not as good”. He was trash as the number 1 option. So bad that our GM had to publicly defend him to keep his trade value up and than trade his ass.
