Could we move this thread to the NBA Dish? He's not on our team.

Some of you guys need to get a grip. Cam was fun to watch but he also made a lot of boneheaded plays including always trying to make the big steal and leaving his man wide open. I remember the game he had early on in the season against Dallas, he seemed to finally understand what we needed from him, then he reverted back.

I'm glad he is willing to understand why things didn't work out in Houston.

Meanwhile, Jalen Green fumbled and did worse for 4 years......and kept being run out there.

Jalen brought more to the table than Cam. He certainly was not the future, but he wasn't an undisciplined player.

2024 season Ime pulled Green a lot for boneheaded defensive plays.

2025 season Green played a lot better defensively and grew from the 2024 season. Sure, offensively he just wasn't it, but he had a large part of our success last season. I know you'll die on the hill for Cam, but he was hardly worth it. No way a young player like him becomes available for practically free and teams don't rush to trade for him. That says a lot about his maturity. For the sake of this young man, I hope he grows up and has a successful career, he has a lot of talent.

You love reverting to your we were all 20 once and made mistakes. That's fine, we all did, but we didn't all have huge egos and instead learned from them. Similar to many 20 years old in the league. Yes, some are boneheads, some are blessed to play for loser franchises that allow them to maybe learn on the job while other play for teams that are serious about winning and those players need to either check their ego or park their asses on the bench.

The majority of coaches in Ime's position would of done the same thing. Coaches are focused on winning first when they are given a decent roster. It's the reality of the league otherwise you are let go.

Not sure why Cam is getting so much hate, he had some attitude issues but it wasn’t like he was toxic. Bro had to sit through some god awful Jalen chuck fests and question why he couldn’t get some of the minutes when JG was utter trash.

Sure he was bad defensively but the way Ime just glued his ass on the bench was not justified. There was definitely some mental games going on where Ime demanded respect but Cam just wasn’t playing politics. I hope he does well in Washington and would like to see what his potential really is.

Word, people easily forget that he had almost zero problems in Year 1 and team was trying to semi contend in Year 2 so it was almost impossible to play much either way.

He and Gigi Jackson were the youngest players in that draft.....

Ömer Asik sulked when he was 28, and that wasn't as much an issue.

He is a kid that needed people trusting him and the Process.

I'm trying to think of a single thing that Cam Whitmore was better at than Jalen Green and the answer is . . . nothing, not one thing.

Jalen Green wasn't quite good enough to be a high usage all star level lead guard. Cam Whitmore wasn't quite good enough to crack a 9 man rotation.

One of these things is on a differnt level!

People who think that a high upside boneheaded player will figure it out after his first team traded him for peanuts.

Exactly, which is why he can't afford me. I can't fault anyone for having dreams though, unattainable as they may be.

There has never been a coach that has found a way to motivate all players.

You might want to look at shooter percentages just last year, Cam was better.

Cam is young, was immature and frustrated, but guys who have that much COMPETITIVENESS are rare - and you want to hold onto them.

I think letting him go was a mistake - but we shall see.......but especially letting him go for NOTHING.......that was just stupid.

You are correct, but Popovich found a way to get to some headstrong players like Manu and let them grow - I would hope that Ime can do the same.

When you know your head coach built his reputation on defense and that he expects at the very LEAST effort from young players, then you go out and half-ass things on that end of the court, you should expect to see a lot of bench.

Here is the thing, you play him, and if/when he slacks you bench him, tell him it is because of no D, then you put him back in the game and let him respond....you know COACH HIM UP !!

You don't just send him to the Gleague because you don't want to deal with him - he is a VERY TALENTED player who needs guidance - do your ****ing job......

Anyone can coach the easy ones, but to get the Kobe Bryant's and Michael Jordans and Allen Iversons you have to do a little more work....

I’m sure they never communicated with him . . . pretty typical to give young players a years-long silent treatment
