I don't think he'll be back. That said, if he was 100% healthy and the Rockets were either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed, I would want him to play. I think the Rockets may not need him to start, but I doubt they would be so stacked that they wouldn't be able to use him off the bench.

No point in him reinjuring himself in 6 months. At this point, just take the whole year, we still have to pay him for another year.

If we are top 2 seed and Fred is 100% healthy by the beginning of the playoffs, I'll be torn whether we should bring him off the bench. On one hand, I see @clos4life's point about risk of reinjuring. On the other hand, adding him to the depth may mean the difference between winning and losing a tightly contested series.

FVV *cannot* be traded WITHOUT HIS CONSENT at any time this season. Not until he officially picks up his player option for 2026-27.

Also, even with FVV's consent, he cannot be traded until December 15 due to signing as a free agent this summer.

Probably depends on the rest of the backcourt. If Amen, Reed, Davison, Okogie are healthy and have our guard play firing on all cylinders, I don't think I'd mess with success. If we're struggling with shooting and/or playmaking, or have other injuries (hope not, knock on wood) I think you'd have to consider it.

Something tells me he will be able to return in May. I have no basis for that, just my gut.

It would suck to have him reinjured for next season and be in the same predicament next season.

How 100% can you be if you missed 5-6 months of game time.......he is probably in Preseason form while others are in Playoff form.

Competitive games are the hardest to simulate even for pro players.

Udoka might be crazy enough to give it a thought.....which is totally bonkers for a professional.

I actually think that We will try to trade him.
His contract along With a couple other players and a draft pick might be the exact upgrade. We need to push us over the edge as long as we stay healthy.

Right around end of January we should have a pretty good idea About our ceiling for this year.

Duran Duran Durant looks like he could play for quite a while but I see this is a three-year project.

I really love Fred, but I don’t want to waste this year if it looks like we can really win. I think he would be willing to pick up the player option and be traded because we are paying him quite a bit to not do anything this year and I think he would be gracious tour with the franchise

If we are doing well, I can’t see us thinking that bringing him back next year is that important. And maybe none of this is actually accurate if they are really invested in him as being a leader. He probably will still have an impact on the team throughout the season as a mentor and as a semi coach.

The question is why would Fred accept a trade to another team if it puts him in a worse situation. Sure, he has a $25 million PO for next year and the Rockets could trade him after this season when he no longer has an implied NTC, but I can't imagine him agreeing to a trade to a team looking to get rid of players for a lottery run. No playoff contending team is going to trade for him since he won't be able to play this season.

Well, 100% means he's physically 100% which means he has rehabbed enough to be able to play in competitive games.

If you are talking about being rusty, then yes, that can be a concern. It is the same condition as any player after a long injury layoff. But you don't know how it affects his game until you see him play. Every player is different. I agree with @OremLK that it will depend on the guard play at that time. We might prefer a rusty Fred than say a sucky Holiday.

Maybe Tilman could procure a medbed for the team. Why not?

Not even necessary, a 31-32 year old is not in his 20s..... meaning the re-injury factor is not a joke and I doubt he is 100%

    • He would likely be 80-90%.

    • Chet Holmgren was never 100%, he was 98% physically and never played to his All Star shape of his 1st Month. And he had played 3 months of regular season before the Playoffs.
    • Also someone like Tyus Jones (last year Phoenix) would shake loose by trade deadline, so not really necessary. Or a buyout candidate.
