I feel for small market franchises, if you really mull it over, the league and Silver are hellbent on tearing down dynasties and great teams....

It is a highly destructive measure.

They call it parity but in reality they only care about their pockets, they want generational talents on 'their favorite teams'....which include the Lakers and the Celtics. And San Anton.

If they league didn't have the influx of Global stars like Giannis, SGA, Joker, Luka, Alperen, they would go on letting their favorite teams win out.

Good for the Rockets that they did snatch Amen and Sengün for an above average market size.

I am not sure they even know what his issue. Didnt the doctors say he was ok then he suddenly started complaining of pain?

Herb Jones signed a 3 year 68 mil deal. Tari is better than Jones. I would believe his agent is looking at a similar or bigger number. Rockets might be negotiating for a little less. I would expect them to sign a similar contract likely 4 year deal.

The procedure Eason underwent last season involved removing a lesion from his left leg and performing a bone graft, as well as inserting a metal rod into his tibia to help it heal. It became irritated last month during a period of rest before the Rockets resumed their regular-season schedule following the NBA in-season tournament.

Eason declined to answer whether his leg felt 100% Thursday but said he would monitor it carefully going forward.

“It’s impossible for it to break. It’s a titanium rod in my shin. So it’s just a matter of managing it,” he said. “I talked to Aaron’s brother (Celtics guard Jrue Holiday) personally; he missed the whole half a season the next season after he came back from the surgery.

That’s your opinion. Herb jones isn’t as versatile and not as good at getting into the paint and got there less than Eason despite playing more minutes as a starter in 23-24.

I like the Herb Jones comparison. If we are getting out of hand, I think Tari could still be a budget Kawhi or budget Jimmy Butler. - if healthy going forward. Other than the health issue, Tari has been great when he has played.

We live in the New Orleans area and I follow the Pelicans as well. I've watched a lot of Tari Eason and a lot of Herb Jones. It's obviously my opinion but I believe I've seen a lot more Pelicans games than you have.

Herb Jones is the better player and doesn't have a lingering health issue. I'm a huge Tari Eason fan though so I don't want to split hairs. There's no way Tari receives a similar contract though. It's not possible.

I have to disagree. A torn rotator cuff injury - even with a minor tear - has a re-injury risk. Herb Jones's extension was done before the injury. It was his shooting arm shoulder. Tari's injury may be lingering or he may be 100% going forward - this year will tell. I think a major reason why there hasn't been an extension is the risk of re-injury for Tari and wanting to see him play 70+ games AND Tari wanting Herb Jones money. Tari does so much more than Herb Jones - Stocks are higher. Rebounds at a higher rate. Other than Herb Jones' Year 3 where he had a crazy outlier year shooting, he is a career 33% three point shooter. I think Tari's floor, if healthy, is Herb Jones.

Herb is also 2 years older, the question is ....can he develop an Offense......bc Tari could theoretically average 14-15 ppg if given minutes.

Herb is definitely one of the top wing defenders not named Amen or Dyson Daniels.

Since Tari has been in the league, Tari has played in a higher percentage of Rockets games than Herb has played for the Pelicans. For the most part, almost all (if not all) of Tari's missed games are related to the same issue for which NBA players usually don't have a lingering issue. If Herb doesn't have an injury problem going forward, Tari shouldn't. Also, Tari is 2.5 years younger.

Herb is the better POA defender and better shooter. Tari is the better offensive rebounder, chaos defender, and attacks the rim more (off ball mostly). I think most people would have Herb as better as he's got skills that are easy to see. I think people undervalue offensive rebounds (even when they don't compromise transition defense), off-ball defense for wings, and attacking the rim off-ball. I don't who of Herb and Tari is better. Prior to the beginning of last season, I would have said Herb. Tari looked really good until pain while rehabbing started to give him problems. Much like I think JSJ got a premium for his age versus what I think Tari will get, I think Tari will get a premium relative to Herb (i.e., Tari might get more money/similar money than Herb not because he's a better player right now, but that the Rockets think he will be a better/similar player before the extension ends).

Great dude. We disagree. Not that big of a deal. We don’t know if it’s a lingering health issue. He has a metal rod in his leg and had flare ups. He was able to come back and play rest of the season including the playoffs.

better def rebounder than Herb as well. When I say better I don’t mean by leaps and bounds. I just think Tari is more versatile and has more potential than Herb who is a solid player giving you at least (10 pts 1 steal and couple threes a game). I think Tari can get to 14-15 pts and 8 boards a game as a starter.

Jones signed that contract 2 months ago long after his injury in JAN 2025.

I love Tari and hope we lock him up with a long extension. As one of the Terror Twins he always made his impact felt on the game defensively. He improved his finishing a lot last year and still has a ton of potential to improve his offensive game IMO. He's a bit undisciplined and made bad plays here and there but that can improve with experience.

That said, Tari's averaged 40 games played the past two seasons. The team needs to factor in risk when handing out extensions and not just pay on optimism. We're up against the 2nd apron starting next year and every dollar counts. If we could keep him for less it would help a lot. Sengun took less than the max despite being an all-star level player and very healthy in comparison. I want all the players to get paid, it's Fertita's money not mine, but barring Kawhi type shenanigans the team literally cannot afford to do that.

After watching Tari's interview on media day dude might be gone if we don't get those extensions done.

He clearly stated he deserves a bigger role, he wants more minutes and that he's proved it in his stats.

Translation, he probably thinks he deserves at least the same contract Jabari got.

Sounds like someone they'll look to trade then.

Tari is *not* better than Herb Jones, dude. Jones was a 1st team all NBA defensive player and shoots much better from the 3.

2nd time I've seen this. Did he really say those words? About deserving. I feel like it was for his own good after his leg injury. He should rethink that and be thankful we don't have the Spurs 2015 docs or the Astros docs. Need to keep him can't believe he feels that way.
