I would almost always rather draft a Thabeet/Bennett vs a Green/Wiggins because the latter often cost your franchise a TON. Look at what wiggins cost the wolves, they gave him a horrific max contract which was probably like -20 million in value a year, and to dump him it cost them the 5th pick in the draft and taking on another awful contract with Russell. If jalen green was picked 20th instead of 2nd, and his extension was 4/50 or so, he would be a totally good draft pick but his contract is obcene.
Franchise player Alpi and playoffs leader is a very team-friendly deal But fake franchise player JG and playoffs ghost whose potential looks more like Clarkson or Poole or Kuzma I wouldn't exacly call a team-friendly deal much less a "very team-friendly" one
“I don’t know who you are” - Bobby the dummy yet gets emotional like a woman repeatedly responding to my posts over the course of 4 years
Since you’re comparing him to Clarkson, Poole, and Kuzma go look up their contracts then report back. It’s in the same range. He didn’t get max money.
I don't know or care who you are... but you're clearly a Suns fan crying because you think someone disrespected your favorite draft bust.
He makes about 15 times what clarkson makes, way more than kuzma (a HORRENDOUS contract) and slightly more than poole (generally regarded as the worst contract in the league). Green is making 88% of the max, so he’s not too far away.
Jalen is not making the max. So if he is perceived to be a max player, then his contract is not too bad. Plenty of borderline star players are paid the max. The problem with a player like Jalen is that he is a high volume player. His scoring looks like a max guy. But he is very inefficient. This kind of players hurt the team if they are paid and used like stars. If they are paid and treated like role players (lower usage), then they may be a positive piece.
I'm glad we were able to trade Jalen for Kevin Durant. I think that's clearly a winning move. I will be watching the Suns some this season though to see how Jalen looks in a different context. He should get a few more off-ball opportunities playing off of Devin Booker. I also have read that Jordan Ott is a creative offensive coach. I can imagine Jalen improving his efficiency somewhat on a different team and becoming more of a winning player. I'm pulling for this to happen. I still don't like the Suns but I'd like to see Jalen Green succeed.
Sengun, Jabari, FVV, Amen all thrived offensively especially in the playoffs if only they had a useful shooting guard...
