I know you like Tari much more than Jabari. But "remotely reasonable" is a bit exaggerated, isn't it?

63% is not 2 shots for 1 basket. Though, missing a shot, getting the rebound, and then making it is just as good as just making the shot the first time if that is what you are trying to say. They both lead to 2 points in the possession. For someone so against TS%, I find it funny that you are so adverse to Tari's missed layups, as TS% is just weighting makes versus misses (except it doesn't do it for just rim shots though one could just look at rim% for TS%). For someone so against TS% and pro-ppg, you should be more about ppg on shots at the rim than worry about missed layups in evaluating Tari at the rim. Tari is 58th in ppg at the rim. I'm pro-ppg and TS% as I see volume and efficiency as both important. Tari at the rim is a highly effective play (even if just average for the NBA at the rim) and is a high volume play.

I will say that before the pain started affecting him during his rehab last season, Tari was finishing much better. I think the first 15-20 games last year shows what value Tari has with finishing better at the rim. Tari's rehab from the surgery should be either over or be over soon (recovery is 12-18 months).

Tari is pretty overrated....I know not to get excited by the Pat Bevs and Marcus Smarts of the world.

    Defensive version of Jalen Green.

That is a little harsh. Tari is a much better player than Pat Bev ever was. Injuries have blunted his career. It’s hard to correct flaws when you miss so much time. If he is healthy all year, we will see if he can make sufficient progress to earn a Jabari sized contract. I do think he is the most likely to be traded if Reed or Okogie don’t step up.

Tari Eason at 70% rim finishing versus last season would turn Eason's TS% to 61% with moderate scoring. If changing something about JSJ would change JSJ's TS% to 61% and Tari played just like he did last season, JSJ would be better than Tari.

This assumes everything else is kept the same.

I think they are both great role players when healthy. Both are better at defense than offense. Jabari is less foul prone and should be a better 3 pt shooter. Tari is more active and causes more kaos on the defensive side of the ball. Jabari has been less prone to injury. If they both just improve a bit, I see no reason why Tari would get more minutes than Jabari. Tari is perfect as energy and defensive effectiveness off the bench. His penchant for being foul prone also works against him playing 30 mins a game or starting. The Rockets have much more information at their disposal and they chose to extend Jabari and not Tari.

I should say, I expect both Tari and JSJ to improve. I expect JSJ and Tari both to have a jump in TS% and when I said the "remotely" I should have said if Tari did that last season vs what JSJ did last season.

I follow performance. If JSJ plays better than Tari, I will switch to favoring JSJ. I will say it will take more than 15-20 games though. I thought JSJ played better at the end of last season than Tari. I don't think JSJ's end last season comes close to how good Tari started the season.

Granted, I don't see bone grafts as something that has caused recurring problems in the NBA. It just takes a long time to recover and then things are basically like they were before as bone heals slower, but better than soft tissue.

The Rockets also chose to extend Jabari and not Durant.

If Jabari's 3p% raised to 40% with 2 more attempts, his TS% would be 60%.

40% from 3 is not too farfetched for him. He shot 38% in his last 10 regular season games and 46% in 7 playoffs games.

pecking order right here: Durant, Al Pee, Amen, and Reed. All others need not apply

This looks about right to me if Reed looks playable as a starter in the preseason. If not, I could see a shuffle, or possibly even Holiday starting to begin the season.

Westbrick for the ultimate reunion. Durant and Adams will bring the best out of him. It will be OKC Rockets title contenders from 13 years ago all over again.

Issue with Tari is that he's a lot like Dillon and Jalen. Would make so many blunders at absolute back breaking moments (CP3 foul comes to mind). Those players always seem to do that. Dillon was like that as well which is why I wasnt sad to see him gone. Floor raisers *and* ceiling lowerers. He was not great vs GSW.

You're either a cerebral player or you're not and Tari is not. He is a chaos merchant. Someone you unleash on a game to try and shake things up but not one you can depend on to make the right decision in a crucial moment. We'll see moving forward how he progresses but I kinda feel like what we have with Tari is what he is. For better and for worse.

Aaron Holiday will start. It's not a long term solution, but he will be our starting point guard for what looks to be most of the season. Reed is not ready to start and he doesn't really look ready to even come off the bench.

I could see it, Ime is a moron after all.... but we should be more optimistic and consider that maybe he's gotten better at his job in the offseason.
