Ain’t no way he keeps his job He doesn’t have the “it” thing. It may be an intelligence issue. He isn’t dumb, it’s just that a successful manager is almost always going to be a smart person, who is savvy and can think on his feet. Joe is a dutiful and loyal soldier, a necessary and even crucial asset to a successful staff, but ultimately not a leader of men. He can still lead by example through his consistent work ethic and dedication to the players and staff, an ideal trait for a bench coach. Of course that will be for another team
If Dusty were here he would have funneled his unique powers to bench better players and to lose 4 home games to Arlington into healing powers to heal Peña, Yordan, Hader, and others. The Astros would have gone from the most injured team in baseball history to the most blessed.
Yet Hinch lost a WS with a more STACKED roster by losing all home games with a prime G Cole. Now sit down before I backhand you again.
No we didn’t. Dusty underachieved. Plus, Dusty sabotaged the 2023 season and wasn’t retained (fired) for that reason. That can’t be forgiven. We don’t need that type of manager. Great leaders don’t sabotage the team. I really hope we do better than Dusty. We don’t have a turn-key title team to drop in his lap anymore. It’s a shame he’s still all you care about. You and RVO suck each other’s balls on the daily. Couple of super Dusty homos.
Dusty won with what he had. Got to a WS WITHOUT Verlander. Hinch blew a WS with a rotation of Verlander, Cole, Morton, Keuchel, to a team who hasn’t been relevant. Almost blew 2017, blew the series against the Royals, and just blew a 15.5 game lead. Sit down, Archie Bunker.
So Dusty is better than Espada? That’s great man. Awesome for him. That impresses no one. Dusty went on an ego bender and ****ed the team over. Can’t have that. That’s why he was let go. Now go suck on those nuts.
Hey we agree! Except for you backhanding me. Hinch should have let Greinke finish the 7th. He had only given up a Crawford Box special and a walk aided by a bad ball call that was a strike. Cole for the 8th and 9th with a lead. Hinch did a terrible job managing the clubhouse in 2017 despite the championship. A good manager can't let a bench coach or players overrule him if it's true he was against the trash can banging. Likewise in 2023 Baker can't let pitchers dictate the lineup. Dusty said the pitchers wanted to pitch to Maldy, so what could he do? Umm, be a manager? Verlander was asked about that quote and said he only a requested a catcher once in his career. So Dusty was lying or Dusty was scared Framber would throw a fastball at him if he didn't put Maldy in the lineup.
Chas? Who cares? Maybe he hasn’t been the same since Dusty, the leader, publicly dissed him. Said he wasn’t a “big boy” to the media. That was classless. Chas and Diaz were our best options in 2023 and he sat them in the playoffs. What those players are doing now is no excuse for that decision. Even with the season Diaz had this year, it would be a crime to start Maldy over him. Dusty never even let Diaz catch the TOR at all in 2023. Then he lied about his pitchers asking for Maldy. He was fired after it all blew up in his face.
