I'm late to the discussion and I'm not going to go back and read pages of back and forth, but I do love a good pointless internet argument, so...

I'm a bit over 5'9" with a 6'1" wingspan and just took a barefoot standing reach measurement without straining at all and it was 7'5.5". But when I really stretch, I get all the way up to 7'10", which is higher than Reed who is close to 5 inches taller and +3.5" in wingspan. That discrepancy combined with the fact that he straight up admitted to gaming his measurement leads me to believe that his final max vert is almost certainly inflated by a couple of inches at the very least.

That said, at the end of the day the actual measurements don't matter -- that stuff is for clout and a bit of pre-draft stock boost. Reed is obviously very springy for a small guard regardless of what his real vertical actually is. But it's not 42".

The best bit was when they tried to say that NBA measurements are super flawless. Despite us seeing so many players with identical listed heights and completely different actual heights. It beggars belief lmao.

This does nothing if you're not 1v1 against top comp. He's doing the same stuff he did last summer.

There is a standard for all athletic testers. It’s not some in home measuring tape. They’re professionals. They’re not being gamed by 4 inches.
It’s the same stance for everyone, so if one person gets an inch, they all do.

Combine heights and measurements are factual.

Team lists are what is flawed.

Look, I know it’s difficult for some of you who don’t have any idea about how the sports world is scouted. But you’re wrong, just flat out wrong.

Beating someone off the dribble is not that hard due to the fact that the defender is moving backwards. Any weekend warrior at the Y can do it. The problem is being able to finish once you beat your man. And when you’re short, it’s even harder cause all-world athletes can recover like a mother once you beat them and swat it into the stands or you have help defenders coming at you. All the good point guards like Stockton, Nash, Curry, CP3, Fred ect. figure a way to do it by being crafty. Reed just has to get enough playing time to figure that part out.

He is neither Stockton or Nash, he is a combo guard whose passing is a tad better than a normal combo guard.

Greatness is a bit overblown, he would be content with just being 'good'.

He is a much less talented James Edward Harden who started out as Shooting Guard as well who could beat his man off the dribble, a thing that Reed has had problems with.

Funny people don't even compare him to a White 6th Man version of Harden, dude has 3rd Pick written all over him even in a Weak Draft.

Obviously Harden was 100x more talented and skilled but you could see their trajectory.
He replaces Harden's slashing skills with his 3 point shooting mechanics.

That would be an interesting take, mine is not ready.....would be content with a 4th seed as it stands.

I think the whole system and dynamic changes.......I fully expect Amen, Alpe and Durant doing most of the Playmaking.

Reed is relegated to more cutting and shooting, it would be easy to do.

JD Davidson/ Jermaine Samuels/Nate Hinton--anyone of these still on the roster?

Holiday/Sheppard plus any guard still on the roster have to get heavy minutes and manage the point guard postion.

Crawford, Kevon Harris and Davison as far as I recall on 2 ways.

Samuels did play this Summer League I believe but no place for him.

Ok, so what you're saying is that our 6'2 (being generous) guard has the standing reach of somebody closer to 5'7? And you don't consider him undersized with a severe physical limitation despite having generationally bad standing reach? He might actually have the worst reach in NBA history relative to his size, and we shouldn't be concerned? Just checking, you know, as you're so flawless in your evaluations I thought I'd check with the master? For reference, my 13 year old nephew has a higher standing reach than Reed Sheppard's combine measurement.

    Hyperbole much?
His standing reach wasn’t even the worst in his class and while it’s short it’s not someone that’s 5’7.
Also, do not put words in my mouth. I have said in this thread that size and length would be his negative.
You’re the idiot that keeps claiming verified athletic testing is wrong and that’s the reason he would struggle.
When in reality, he plays bigger than his reach and wingspan due to his athleticism.
You don’t get the blocks and steals that he does with his physical measurements.

Accept that you’re wrong and move on.
