Quick summary of journal article for those who don't like to read.

Study Population
This study included all singleton liveborn children in Sweden from July 1, 1995, to December 31, 2019, with a linkable personal identifier (N = 2 489 721), with follow-up until December 31, 2021.

Design, Setting, and Participants This nationwide cohort study with sibling control analysis included a population-based sample of 2 480 797 children born in 1995 to 2019 in Sweden, with follow-up through December 31, 2021

Results In total, 185 909 children (7.49%) were exposed to acetaminophen during pregnancy.

Conclusions
Acetaminophen use during pregnancy was not associated with children’s risk of autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in sibling control analyses. This suggests that associations observed in models without sibling control may have been attributable to confounding.

it's important to point out (again) what the study that trump and RFKjr are leaning on actually says.

Our Analysis demonstrated evidence consistent with an association between exposure to acetaminophen during pregnancy and offspring with NDDS, Including ASD and ADHD, though obsersvational limitations preclude definitive causation.

In other words, they see a correlation but not a causation.
Just like an increase in ice cream consumption is associated with an increase in shark attacks, or a release of a Nicolas Cage movie is associated with an increase in pool drownings (both real associations).



Let's also look at a statement the FDA Commissioner released on September 22..

To be clear, while an association between acetaminophen and autism has been described in many studies, a causal relationship has NOT been established and there are contrary studies in the scientific literature.
