Well Folks there goes the end of great era. Dynasty complete. 2 championships , 4 AL pennants I say its time to pull the plug on some guys, rebuild again. Altuve is not the same player anymore, and this team is cooked. Overall they had a winning season but could been worse with ALL THE INJURIES!
Old players get injured, you can't keep em all together forever. Keep Correa, Pena, Perades, Meyers, Diaz, Carantini, Alvarez, Smith Pitchers: Brown, Arrighetti (if no surgery)..... And retool......and fire all coaches. DD
If you do not think players can fire a manager you are not paying attention to the Astros this month.
Sucks, there were ways to keep it going, but we saw it coming in 2023. Crane needs to regroup, and cut ties with some. I’m sure Crane will probably remake the coaching staff, hopefully he finally gets bagwell out of the front office. Not sure what he does with Dana since he was brought in to draft and restock the farm, but his lack of addressing the MLB pitching is inexcusable.
Mediawise outwards covering up when still in the fight might have been the right way but if Joe did't confront Framber enough and lecture to him about incident, that might have been the last straw for team. Chandler Rome reported the next day that his source told him there were heated arguments in the clubhouse post game but it was between senior players and Framber. No mention of Joe taking any role in it other than asking Salazar and Framber to visit his office so he can pretend that he handled this mess. He just seems like a guy that does't have the balls to say something that player does't wanna hear. Maybe the insane PH of Altuve for Urias way back and leaving him for defense with lead Diaz homering(if I remember correctly) was about that he promised Altuve a AB and could not pull him back. Either way stupid move when Altuve finally was having a off day in terrible slump. Walker said after first A's game they are ready to get hot and trying harder does't fix things. Guys have been thinking about vacays for some time now.
Unfortunately Yanks or Seattle might get pretty easy run to WS before being humbled there by NL team.
This window isn't closed if you can bring a good left bat and a star caliber pitcher in free agency. Get better injury luck, hope you see some improvement from Smith or Cole and its right back to business imo.
I was told by someone that the Astros are going to talk to the Nationals about Mackenzie Gore at some point this winter in an effort to see if they can trade for him - they think they can make him better and would value him higher than some other teams would.
Gore, Rasmussen, Cabrera, Ryan, Alcantara, and Lopez seem to me to be the list of potential ToR Houston might target this winter.
If this is the late-middle of the end, with 2025 a reverse trajectory of 2016, and 2026 having the Astros make the playoffs and get knocked out with that being the true end of the run, it was an all-timer. 2 World Series championships 5 years apart, 4 World Series appearances, 8 Division titles, 9 playoff appearances in 10 seasons. Very unlikely that the Astros ever have a run like that anytime in my remaining lifetime. Props to Jim Crane for ponying up the cash and hiring good GMs.
I am generally not in the Fire Espada camp. The manager is not the primary problem with this team. Having said that, if the Tigers fire their manager ...
