People are focusing on Reed and Amen, but really it's Point Aaron who will step up when it counts

I would not be surprised if we see Holiday start and possibly at one point be the 35mpg guy finishing the game...

I love Reed and Amen, but looking from our coaching perspective, its probably early and risky for Reed to take over and be the main guy at PG...Would expect Reed to get a lot of minutes early in the season but over time Holiday will most likely take over and be the guy who finishes the game.

Amen is going to likely be shuffled around and isn't going to get the permanent PG spot.

Aaron has the experience, and with the team going to head deep into the playoffs I would expect him to play significant minutes.

If this is the case, we are f*cked. I do think Holiday may start early in the season if Reed craps the bed in pre-season, but Holiday as our starting PG will prompt a trade. He is a third string PG on most teams in the NBA. Of course, neither Reed or Holiday are pg’s on offense. They will be forced to guard the smallest guard on defense so maybe that is your definition of pg.

No, Holiday can give you some solid minutes but he's not really a point guard. He's a good 2nd unit 3 point shooter and has some decent lane-driving skills against teams with porous interior defense in their 2nd units.

Aaron Holiday is not a starter.
Amen works because he can create.

I love that Holiday thought he was taking a holiday contract but now he is asked to actually play real minutes.

That’s a bold prediction and If it happens I’ll give you all the credit. But, I would be surprised if it actually happens. I see Holiday part of a guard rotation where he gets 15 minutes or less.

Aaron Holiday is a good player. I don’t know why this board hates him.

Simple. If Sheppard is ready, he wouldn't, if Sheppard is not ready, brace yourselves to watch him play close to 30 mpg......such is the emergency until another PG is traded here.

Him playing 30 mpg does not make him a major rotational piece on any other team, this is just a unique circumstance.

Holiday is one of 5 players who the Rockets have played better with than without the past 2 years. Granted, I expect a lot of that is that he typically is played against weaker players. It does say that he can hang. You can put him in the game, and things don't fall apart (Granted, this view is likely viewed as overrating Holiday). I don't really have an issue with him as a backup. I'm much more concerned with Reed's development and the starting lineup (i.e., top end talent for which Holiday isn't) than I am with Holiday's usefulness.

I think you can say the same about Tate and Uncle Jeff. It is virtually the definition of a veteran journeyman. Holiday is a third string, emergency guard. Anything positive he gives you is gravy. It really just shows how deep this team can be if Reed is decent.

I like Aaron Holiday but the move is to put the ball in Amen's hands (as he's had it his whole life) and to start Reed beside him and let them go. They have two all stars Sengun & Durant out there with them to take the pressure off. We see it all the time in professional sports, someone goes down and another guy steps up when he gets the chance. This is Reed's chance to make good. Let's see what he has as a full-time starter. Let him make his mistakes and bump his head because we need him ready for the playoffs.

Yep, it's Reed's chance to step up, but Ime has to give him some rope just like he gave JG the past two years when he didn't bench JG for disappearing with 8 point games.
