Illegals don't buy houses for the most part and never have. Private equity has 500x the amount of houses in their portfolios vs illegals yet you MAGATs have been brainwashed to blame illegals.

Imagine being so brainwashed that you think the issue with America are illegals making 5 dollars an hour nd not private equity.

Right wing boomers continuously show the world they are brainwashed individuals filled with nothing but hate

Illegals from south of the border usually will live in low-end (C or D class) apartments that allow people to pre-pay rent to get into the unit. Many times, when it's just the men here to make money, they will rent a single bedroom apartment together and build little plywood stalls to live in, sometimes 12+ to an apartment.

So not caves, but definitely not houses. You seem like an intelligent person, do your research, the data is out there.

My brother who is a maga rancher up by Dallas has 3 mobile homes by the main barn and they have 4-5 per trailer. The lady who cleans my house lives in South Houston in one of those dingy apartment complexes off 45 where they have to over pay for a POS apartment

The richest of the rich are putting more people into dire straights by gobbling up properties, raising rent, and putting more people into homeless situations by evicting them if they can't afford the price hike. They love targeting middle class neighborhoods in big cities. It's not going to get better with Trump and his circle of billionaires joined at the hips to get the biggest tax breaks while they take advantage of the rest of Americans.

Corporate landlords are taking over society, making life unaffordable

Landlords are taking over society. For many average working people, it has become impossible to buy a house. And the cost of renting housing has become prohibitively expensive.

In the United States, for instance, the largest landlord is not an individual; it’s a massive Wall Street investment firm: Blackstone, the private equity fund.

Blackstone has also become the second-largest owner of all houses in the country of Spain. And Blackstone is the single largest private owner of residential real estate in Madrid, the Spanish capital.

Blackstone and other Wall Street investment funds have been gobbling up residential housing. Then they ratchet up the cost of rent, which has fueled homelessness, as many people are being evicted from their homes.

Stephen Schwarzman, who is the highest paid CEO on Wall Street, was one of the main funders of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

Now that Trump has returned as U.S. president, this gives billionaire Stephen Schwarzman and Blackstone a lot of influence in Trump’s policymaking.

Of course, Trump has been massively cutting taxes on the rich — benefiting billionaires like Stephen Schwarzman, who helped to fund his campaign.

ICE badly injure 80-year-old U.S. citizen who owns the car wash—leave him with broken ribs & dislocated elbow. "They told me: ‘You don’t F with ICE! We are here!’ and then threw me on the floor." "I told them I'm an old man and need my heart medication, but they said ‘No!’"
If you do this , you are the bad guys.

Necessity is the mother of inventions / innovations !

LA Activists Launch ‘Liberty Vans’---documenting ICE Raids---
to make sure that masked men comply with laws

Each van is staffed with a faith leader, a lawyer and a videographer, with a goal of
making sure federal agents comply with the law.

Liberty Vans’ to Combat ICE Raids becomes more than just a response; it’s a lifeline. Many families
live in constant fear of being separated, and this initiative aims to alleviate some of that anxiety.
It’s a reminder that community support is vital in times of uncertainty.

That’s why they were hired. Think about it this way: in the future, having been an ICE agent during the second Trump administration will be a scarlet letter and a bullseye to be investigated. If people know you were an ICE agent they won’t want to be around you. Actions have consequences.

Do you think tariffs aren't going to increase the cost of home manufacturing? Do you think that won't cause less housing?

If it was a sincere argument the emphasis would be on lowering the cost of home manufacturing, and eliminating local restrictions on the size and number of homes so there could be more starter homes and eliminating some of the mortgage predatory habits.

However - it is instead the Mexicans fault, many of which have been in the USA long term.

    I disagree.

The Masked Oppressors wear masks for the same reason that bank robbers wear masks.

You should stick to topics you know and understand and obviously real estate isn't one of those. You are just parroting talking points with no factual basis to support your assertion.

I've been in the construction and real estate business for 50+ years. It's what I do.

There are multiple large scale new home projects that have been literally shut down in this area in the last few months because the homes aren't selling and sitting empty - it's not the price either, those same homes were actually selling for a higher price tag in the past, it's the interest rates that have slammed the proverbial brakes on buying.

    Take a typical $400k mortgage -

    Quarter point difference
Interest Rate Monthly Payment (Principal & Interest)
    6.50% $2,528
    6.75% $2,594
    Annual impact: $66 × 12 = $792
    30-year impact
    : $66 × 360 = $23,760

    Half point difference
Interest Rate Monthly Payment (Principal & Interest)
    6.50% $2,528
    7.00% $2,661
    Annual impact: $133 × 12 = $1,596
    30-year impact
    : $133 × 360 = $47,880

Difference between ~3.5% change between 2020-2022/25

Interest Rate Monthly Payment (Principal & Interest)
    3.00% $1,686
    6.50% $2,528
    Annual cost difference: $842 × 12 = $10,104
    Total over 30 years
    : $842 × 360 = $303,120

Mortgage Rate Trends: 2015–2025 (yearly average)

    2015 ~3.85%
    2016 ~3.65%
    2017 ~3.99%
    2018 ~4.54%
    2019 ~3.94%
    2020 ~3.11%
    2021 ~2.65%
    2022 ~6.70%
    2023 ~7.79%
    2024 ~6.85%
    2025 ~6.56%

Obviously, the post you quoted was sarcastic - but also factual. You simply cannot deny that inserting many millions of individuals in the housing market, mostly the lower end of that market, won't have a ripple effect, impacting cost market wide, but particularly on the lower end of that market simply by increasing demand.

It's the simple law of supply and demand. Legal or illegal, People need a place to lay their heads .... most of them live in some kind of residence, not a cave. Every purchase or lease makes an impact on the whole.

Democrats gave us COVID and Biden gave us staggering budget deficits (>$2 trillion a year). This created MASSIVE inflation (due to issuing treasuries to finance the budget deficit) and it forced interest rates higher as a way to combat the high inflation. High interest rates are the #1 contributor to the lack of housing investment and creates difficulty for first time home buyers to act. Once again, the problems trace back to horrible Democrat policies.
