You woke jokers know so much about science and medicine and that’s why the American people don’t trust you liars. Covid finally woke us up from the gaslighting, grifting and all the pseudo science authoritarianism bullshiit that you heaped upon us. I know lots of you woke clowns are in your basement somewhere and never been married, but if you do and your spouse is carrying, by all means, let her take all the Tylenols that she wants.
Here is a sobering stat. In the 70's one out of every 1,500 boys were on the spectrum. At current time 1 in every 31 boys are on the spectrum. I do not profess to know why such a rise has happened. Is limiting acetaminophen the answer. Again, I do not know. But this is something that needs immediate and heavy research, leading to action. Tough to do when CDC and medical research is being slashed daily. I'm all for a leaner government but it appears we are cutting off our nose to spite our face. The definition fits in this instance: "Cutting off your nose to spite your face" An idiom describing a delf destructive action taken out of anger or a desire for revenge against someone else, but what ends up harming the person taking the action more than the intended target. From AI overview.
I'm sure it has. I almost stated that I suspect many cases went undiagnosed. When I was a child in the 70s with the same minor ADHD tendencies I have now, my mom just said, I was HYPER. Still 1 in 31 is a crazy number. I know I have ADHD, but have always been thankful a bit for that. As a person who is the administrator in Dining Services, when you have 40 people in your kitchen at one time doing 20 different tasks, you have to be able to pivot on a dime. So, my look there goes a squirrel nature is ok by me. It's sometimes difficult to have one on one talks with folks outside of work because its more about eye contact and truly listening during a conversation. I often find myself finishing others' thoughts because my brain is ready to move to the next thing.
That's what non-experts fail to realize. Is is more prevalent now than then? It's hard to know, because everything from autism awareness, intervention, testing, and and the expansion of diagnostic criteria diagnosing children on the spectrum from a very young age is much much different now than in the 70's. Parents, early childhood teachers, doctors, diagnosticians, therapists, and others are much more informed of signs to look for in young children, which may be on the spectrum. There is much more focus on training everyone involved in working with children about autism. The intervention is nothing like the 70's. There are so many more trained experts in the field now, and so many more parents with an awareness and understanding of the huge spectrum of children with autism. Sometimes the traits are so mild, that a child who does well in school may have just seemed odd or unsocial, and even outbursts or tantrums may have been looked at as just a lack of discipline 30 years ago. Non-verbal children might have been misdiagnosed as simply some other form of disability, even if that child had a brilliant mind, but was unable to communicate their knowledge with others. What's scary is when non-experts give false hopes, quack cures, or causes with no valid proof to justify leading others down a rabbit hole of misinformation.
I've been taking Tylenol to counter the side-effects of drinking bleach and internal lasers to counter Covid. Now what do I do?
RFKjr and Dr Oz's declaration hinges on a Low-Quality study While they ignore a high quality study of almost 2.5 Million children that says the opposite. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2817406 This nationwide cohort study with sibling control analysis included a population-based sample of 2 480 797 children born in 1995 to 2019 in Sweden, with follow-up through December 31, 2021. Question Does acetaminophen use during pregnancy increase children’s risk of neurodevelopmental disorders? Findings In this population-based study, models without sibling controls identified marginally increased risks of autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) associated with acetaminophen use during pregnancy. However, analyses of matched full sibling pairs found no evidence of increased risk of autism (hazard ratio, 0.98), ADHD (hazard ratio, 0.98), or intellectual disability (hazard ratio, 1.01) associated with acetaminophen use. Meaning Acetaminophen use during pregnancy was not associated with children’s risk of autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in sibling control analyses. This suggests that associations observed in other models may have been attributable to confounding. Conclusions and Relevance Acetaminophen use during pregnancy was not associated with children’s risk of autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in sibling control analysis. This suggests that associations observed in other models may have been attributable to familial confounding.
There is a segment of mostly females that are anti-vax, pro-organic and many other very questionable beliefs that are an important voting block for Trump and MAGA. These are typically middle and lower middle class women that in the past have either voted "D" or did not vote - now they are firmly MAGA..... so any information that he can give on the cause of Autism (it has been around before Tylenol existed) and anything that lends credence to their lambasted belief system only helps Trump politically, even if it is false. It will also let these women recruit more women that otherwise would not join - look at the discredited report on vaccines and autism, this cult of women still use it as proof - and the pronouncement by Trump is the same. Politics makes odd bed fellows - and no one is better at it than Donald Trump, and this is a political win for him.
A lot of things are associated with autism - the consumption of water and giving birth vaginally is associated with Autism. Being human is associated with autism --- that is why it is such a silly announcement, but one that will work well for the President politically.
I don't think Autism is 'caused' by anything at all other than human evolution. Autistic people are usually extremely smart. If you know people in academia, it's the norm to be neurodivergent (weird). I don't know a single PhD who isn't ADHD af. It's more the rise of clinical diagnosis, better standards of living and better healthcare that has put a spotlight on something that's been around for centuries if not millennia.
It's been around since humans became a species. These morons telling me Isaac Newton wasn't an autist?
How long before Trump blames Windmills for autism? or perhaps the radical left? or perhaps in response to the 2020 election being stolen? or ...
Yup - but apparently it is caused by radio waves, prescription drugs, OTC pain killers and vaccines. That is just some of the various theories that I have heard from SAH moms that I have come across -- couple that with Trump kicking out all the Mexicans to "help" their blue collar husbands and you have incredibly loyal Trumpers.
Nothing new under the sun. We are never going to acheive Perfect health (not in our lifetime) I think everyone would love to end autism however . . . .seems kind of crazy to go on so little evidence. Rocket River
Yeah, but they're socialists in Sweden! Maybe you're right on that and he gets some credit for delivering red meat for the anti-vaxx crowd. It doesn't get anyone in the middle of the field but maybe it activates the inert and turns out the vote. I wonder why they didn't follow through with the vaccines cause autism route. Why the pivot to Tylenol?
