Even if he was developing better, Reed Sheppard is nowhere near ready to start at point guard on a team gunning for a championship. It’s laughable to think he is.

We either pull a big move out of our ass—Westbrook? Beverley?—or we are ****ed.

We may be ****ed anyway but we’re definitely ****ed if RS is the starting PG.

You guys are funny. Losing FVV sucks, but if Westbrook or Pat Bev are our starting PG this season, we might as well just tank. I cannot take entering another playoff with Westbrook on the roster. It’s like putting a gun to your head.

Westbrook now is at best a spark plug with Turnover tendencies and 28% Shooting.

I mean he is almost out of the league or a 7th man.

Pat is old and a total dud on Offense.

I thought Durant was the SG guys? What's the issue with Amen and Durant splitting the PG duties in the "backcourt"? Two hybrid guards with a playmaking C seems viable to me.

Might as well trade Durant at deadline , unless they can find replacement for Fred. No way this team is going to compete..

I don't like the way the roster is constructed. Losing your true point guard before the season even starts means they're going to have to get creative. I don't think the organization really cares much about having an actual point guard though, so they might not see it as being as big of a deal as a lot of us do. It will be really interesting to see how they handle things.

Don't know how I missed this. Well it sucks not to have Fred, he definitely is a calming presence in the line up. At the same time, this does open up opportunity for the young guys. We are thin in the backcourt unfortunately but hoping for health on the rest of the guys.

This will cost us about 5 wins, and is a big loss more so due to the fact that, unless Reed steps up, we have no one else on the roster now that can fill Fred's role as a facilitator, reliable perimeter ball handler and plus defender at the position. I was hopeful he would tone down the bad shots this season and focus on that, which would have been ideal for him.

Now we have to hope Reed can be a facilitator, run the offense and make strides on defense in just his 2nd year, a big ask. Wonder if it's feasible to trade for someone like Jrue Holiday for a playoff run. Hopefully KD stays healthy or we will really have problems.

I wasn't sold we were beating OKC with Fred, but I thought we had an outside shot at least with maybe a little injury luck like OKC had last season. I still think we win around 55 games and have a good season, but just bummed that the "window" won't be open yet in all likelihood.

Should’ve traded Cam for a PG or kept him just in case of injury. Now we might have to move an injury prone Tari into the starting lineup. Who’s gonna back him up & who’s going to replace him when he goes down for 20+ games? We don’t have pg or SG depth. Just team full of forwards and big men. It could work but we can’t rely on KD to chase around guards on defense. Trading Cam for nothing was unwise

That of course. I’m saying he still gets paid, but the team should be able to find his replacement instead of being handicapped.

I expected 60 wins prior to the injury, and now expect 50-52. I guess we'll see, Amen's gonna have to become a budding superstar and Reed is going to have to put on his big boy pants.

No need to trade Tari, lots of other players available after Dec 15th, you roll with what you have and see if you need to pivot in December.

Capela could go, he is a luxury - so just wait it out and see....how it goes.....don't make panicked decisions.

With FVV on the court last season, Rockets played at a 56.4 win pace. With him off the court they played at a 48 win pace. In the playoffs it was a 48 win pace with him on the court and -3 win pace with him off the court (obviously you can't win -3 games, the point differential was just THAT bad).

Good thing we got DFS and KD then......

Every year it is a different chemistry and team, no telling how FVV fits with KD and DFS - now we have to find a new rythmn, we might have to make up what FVV gave us in the aggregate - it can get done.

We'll see, i wasn't on the train that we were a contender but i think without fvv we are completely irrelevant as a contender.

KD is way more important than FVV - while I appreciate that FVV was a steady hand he was far from a great PG.

This team has enough creators, we just need someone to bring the ball up and get it to KD or Alpi and everyone move and play off of them, and we SHOULD be fine....

If not, once Dec 15th hits, lots of players signed this summer can be traded or traded for.......

I believe FVV was in his last year as a starter here, and this just accelerated things a little bit, and sometimes circumstances force a coach to do things he isn't comfortable with but lead to a better overall squad.

Either way, I am confident the Rockets are an elite team if everyone ELSE stays healthy.
