I honestly give the Astros much more credit for sustained success given the cards they dealt with since the start of the season. Crappy injury filled season with so many make shift players filling in. Mid season trade to reclaim some Correa magic just didn't happen. Being swept at home sucks. Looks bleak folks. Walker should not start another game at 1st. Not giving a much superior bat with Caratini is just foolish. Have to look at the remaining games but Dodgers have to help for the Astros to have a chance...
Pretty crummy week for Texas pro sports. Texans had 2 losses where they really weren't even competitive... Astros sweeps... Good and bad. Other teams I don't care about, but... Rangers losing Cowboys losing
We should still hit the playoffs with a 4-2 record against Angels and As. Tigers play 3 vs Red Sox and Indians. Red Sox play vs Tigers and Blue Jays. I could easily see the Tigers go 2-4. If the Tigers or Indians sweep each other then we have a real good shot. We actually have one of the best odds for the playoffs considering.
Truth. Sometimes the first pitch is the best/only one you'll get to hit. But in certain situations, you just gotta take it.
Can't believe it was a sweep. Just awful. Now that Cleveland went nuclear to end the season and have the tie breaker (which Detroit also has on us), we're pretty much ****ed. A sweep was the only thing that could have killed your division AND also jeopardize your wildcard position, and it happened.
They choked away their season this weekend. It's basically just that simple. They needed a win today, but instead they managed to lose by the 2nd inning. I don't see them coming back from this. There's just no fire with them right now.
The Batting Lineup has players out of certain batting spots, leading to confusion. Jose Altuve cannot bat 3rd or 4th, he expands the strike zone and chases for strike way easily, he is a batter that starts the offense, batting 1st or 2nd, starting the engine, a table setter. Carlos Correa should be batting 5th, Yainer Diaz 6th, Caratini or Walker 7th Jesus Sanchez cannot play anymore, Cam Smith not playing is concerning. Ramon Urias is better than Mauricio Dubon as a hitter.
Unpopular opinion Astros really should consider missing the Playoffs and try to make the MLB Draft Lottery. I know Rob Manfred maybe would rig the MLB Draft Lottery against the Astros.
Signing Christian Walker was really pointless in a Disaster of Season, losing a Draft Pick. Christian did great against the Dodgers and Dbacks at least.
C Not Motivated to play at Home. A Younger Team at least would have energy, this Team has too many Veteran Journeymen that are just satisfied to be in MLB Roster.
Because Dubon is BFF of Yordan and Joe is scared to death to say or do anything that might upset anybody. When he finally sat Walker after 50 horrible at bats, that needed some tactical explaining and Walker himself was b*tching that he expects to play everyday. No accountability in this team. Players do what they want and Joe does't know anything about managing a game, even less about managing 162. Even bad to mid teams have runs like 8-10 wins in a row with competent mid managers who can handle moving runners, handling of BP and prepare hitters to be ready for the next oppo SP. What Joe does is he tries to burn everything he has to win 2/3 and punt 1 game, no thoughts about coming games or anything else. Same fking stories after the games. Either "we were good and agressive" or "it was really tough opposing number 5 starter with 5era and we were unlucky but good AB's".
It's been a tough month for Houston sports fans. I might go leaf peeping in Vermont or Massachusetts next Sunday just to take a break.
The make shift players did better than the trade acquisitions minus Correa... Sanchez and Urias had minimal contributions.
