Sounds like a guy who would say "I'm proud of our guys going 4-13, we were in it every game!"

    Basically just Nico.

I think some of the O line guys would do better elsewhere behind a competent QB...but that's the thing, when you don't have a competent QB nothing else matters, and when you have an elite QB, they make up for A LOT of other players struggling.

You can build an absolutely elite O line, and you still won't get anywhere without a quality QB....and when you have an elite QB, their O line is often overrated because he makes them look better than they are.

Yeah, this is what a coach does. Play to the teams strengths, hide their weaknesses.

If you realize that CJ plays better with more fast tempo, you do it more.
If you drafted a HB that is basically a WR and his specialty is catching the ball out of the backfield and make stuff happen...you try to get him more chances to do that.

This is really all it is.

It would be like if the Rocket came out and tried running the offense with Amen and were setting up screens to get him open for 3...well of course that isn't going to work.

Through the 1st 3 games, it looks like the Caley hire was a bad hire. I see a lot of head scratching play calling moves. A lot of low percentage plays are called on 3rd and short or 4th and short. Opposing defenses appear to know what the Texans are doing. Chubb is too much of a one dimensional RB and defenses know when he's in the game the Texans are pounding the rock. If Dare or Woody is in the game the play is more likely a pass. Worst of all, Stroud is struggling with the offense. He's holding on to the ball too long waiting for receivers to have clear separation. And I would like to know if he's changing the plays at the line of scrimmage based off his reads on the defense. He's not anticipating. And the receivers are not looking to find the open spot in zone coverages. If the offense can stay on the field longer, they can tire out the defensive line and open up bigger plays. This is a big mess. If Stroud continues to struggle running the offense, maybe the Texans should switch to Mills to see if he can operate the offense more effectively.

The first was a terrible throw, CJ got baited by the DB and he failed to read it.

The 2nd was a play where CJ ignored open receivers who would have gotten first downs and he instead held on to the ball long enough to get it tipped.

Both were on him and no one else. QB's have a responsibility to get the ball out accurately and on time, when you pass up the easy first down and wait around to try a home run pass, it's on you if that decision to wait ends up with you holding on to the ball too long.....but as always, the O line will get blamed for poor QB play.

The Nico fumble was just a Nico screw up.

People that didn't like CJ when he was drafted are never going to reason even after decades of football. when the O line is terrible, it leads to the QB getting mechanics out of whack which leads to being gun shy and finally seeing ghosts and demons.
CJ isn't mentally weak for his career to end in game 3. Has to survive. Next week doesn't get easier for our O line with the interior fatties.

If I’m mcnair I’m telling Ryan’s I’m firing nick now and I’m picking my OC. He had his chance and he wants to pick guys who haven’t called plays in this league. Cut ties now before you set us back even more. There’s nothing in this offense that showed me that the offensive coordinator is competent.

    It’s ok to be objective.
Everyone was on board after the rookie season.
    He has clearly regressed.
Yes he’s had Oline issues, but so have other QBs currently and they are still performing.

Thank goodness Rockets season is around the corner. I didn't have high hopes for this team, but didn't think they would be this awful to watch. Just not fun. I'm a casual football fan, so not heartbroken, but still sucks to watch the team not be at least entertaining.

The team looks awful. We have gotten worse every year under DeMeco.

    The powers that be should:

Plan for the future.. get ready to fire DeMeco and his staff at the end of the season.. think about who you will bring in.

Try and put your thumb on the scale so we tank and get the best pick we can.

This is one of the ugliest situations in the NFL.

Their schedule is brutal. This is a max 5 win team.

They haven't shown me anything that gets me thinking they can win. Even when a team is trying to gift them a win, the Texans have troubles accepting it. Maybe they can accidentally pull one off. Now I'm afraid we will start seeing some panic coaching

    Bullsh!t I say

The 1st was a horrible read, he could have easily hit the "under" guy

The 2nd would have been a big play if LT had blocked his man

That Nico fumble is another reminder... stop the BS and dominate teams. Every game you play shouldn't be close. Grow up... stop relying only on defense. It's old, stupid and insane.

It seems like our guys are coached to play hero ball (make SPLASH plays).

Kill shots on defense. Receivers trying to spin out of tackles.

Need to play smart football with no TOs.... wrap up on tackles... bait opposing defenses into making mistakes... instead everybody trying to play out of their heads.

    Coaches need to emphasize that.
