At least the Titans can't be confused for having a good defense. I'm morbidly curious if the Texans offense is remotely capable of looking semi-competent next week. If you can't do anything against the t***, Caley doesn't deserve the courtesy of being allowed to finish the season.
Yeah, they went to quick 1 read plays because that's all CJ can handle....and he threw 2 picks as a result. He's not capable of processing quickly enough for anything other than the most basic stuff and since he still can't read defenses, if they disguise anything on that 1 read, it's a pick. There's just not much you can do with such a bad QB.
When the Texans got it going in the playoffs against the Chargers, it was when they went uptempo. An experienced OC might be able to transition to this on the fly, but Calley is closer to David Culley than Andy Reid.
Stroud always plays better in an uptempo offense. He starts second guessing on longer developing plays. Seems like it might be a good idea to play to your QBs strengths.
Yep. People want to get on the defense but they are the only reason we've even been in games, despite injuries too. But that's still on Demeco. He should not have trusted his career on some rookie OC and after last year should have just cleaned house on the offensive coaching staff. I would have pounded the table for Chip and then let Chip bring over as many people as he wanted. But typical Texans, they were content with just being the best AFC South and now we're not even that anymore.
Of course he plays better in up tempo 1 read offenses....they don't require him to think very much. The problem is that incredibly simple offenses like that are risky at the NFL level so it's better if you have a QB with the processing speed to do more than you'd expect from a college QB. Even with the up tempo, Stroud still threw 2 picks, so I'm not sure there really is a solution.
Usually when a QB averages 200 yards per game passing, that means they have a rushing attack averaging 180 yards per game. lol It's inexcusable to be this bad no matter the offense you run. They don't look for rhythm until the closing of a half or end of game.
Yeah, I caught the sarcasm, but the concerns about CJ aren’t coming out of nowhere. Fans have been calling out the OL, WRs, coaches, and even talking cuts and firings. CJ gets his share of criticism too, but it’s not like anyone is pinning everything on him, which is what your sarcasm was trying to highlight. I doubt you’ll find a Texans fan pointing out issues with CJ while pretending the O-line and other areas aren’t also a problem. I like CJ too
This is crazy and I'm not here defending Stroud but...he has better stats than most historical QBs at his age. Not that he will be that,.not that he hasn't played poorly but...I think it would be a mistake to have a top 5 draft pick and not draft an elite LT. Draft the elite LT that you can have for 10+ years and if Stroud still plays poorly, well then you can look for a new one. Honestly, you should be looking for your elite LT before you even draft a QB any ways. Like to me it is irrelevant unless the QB is some generational Peyton Manning type...I take the LT.
The 2nd pick was a tipped ball. The 1st pick had nothing to do with Tempo. You need to get a grip on reality. We know you don't like black QBs...shouldn't you be watching Kirk's clan rally?
Mike McDaniel went to John Carroll. If he gets fired, they probably bring him in as a consultant the next day. I like McDaniel but after Jack Easterby, Caserio, and Caley, I want the John Carroll stench off the team.
It's not perfect (missed tackles, gouged up the middle vs TB, etc...) but it is way, way far from the problem with this team
