Agreed Robinson's 12 mil/Tomlinson's 6.5 mil and Autry's 7 mil savings along with Rankins 11 mil could've gotten them the best FA center on the market. Dahlman, Fries and traded for Jordan Mason like the Vikes did. Caserio didn't trust Simmons to be healthy (I didn't either) or Ersery to be good enough to be a starting LT in the NFL. But imagine an offense that looked like this

    QB CJ

    RB Mason/Marks/jc Merritt

    WR Nico/Kirk/Noel/Hutch/Berrios/Watson/Horton

    OT Simmons/Ersery/Fisher

    OG Fries/Howard/Ingram

    C Dahlman/Andrews/Patterson

    TE Schultz/Bryant

The only guy I didn't want was Simmons due to injury history. but all of these moves could've been made. They weren't unrealistic moves either. I wonder who decided where the resources should've been spent? Caserio or Ryans? Regardless Caserio should've told Ryans we're spending money on the offense in FA and also the draft. If he wasn't allowed to by upper mgmt then that's pretty par for the course for what we've seen over the last 25 yrs. If Caserio had the power and didn't stand up to Ryans and tell him that's what Caserio was going to do then Caserio should be fired and I say this as a big Caserio fan.

I also question whose idea was it hire an inexperienced OC and then not make any moves on the O Line, I love both of these guys, but this was a HORRIBLE decision. We are literally seeing the same issues as last year and to top it off CJ regressed and is frustrated as hell so now we have that to deal with. I am a Casserio fan, but his whiff on the O Line over the past few years have been horrendous; to be fair he did some great things drafting on the D side of the ball but you have to look at the totality of his picks. Something has to give and it's too early to look at Demeco, if someone needs to fall on their sword its Nick

At least they seemed to have hit on Ersery.

I wonder who made the call to heavily invest on the defensive side of the ball?

They STILL havent covered the most important position on defense....DT! The past yr was a very good DT draft and Caserio didnt draft a DT until the 7th rnd. He did the same thing in the 2024 draft.

The Texans continue to give up running yards up the middle. Their team is built from the outside in. They need a DT

Valid Point, I have to say I was actually shocked how the Bucs ran it straight down our throats, doesn't do any good to have the two best Edge Rushers if there just going to go inside run. They did try a 4-3 at times but that didn't work either

When was the last time we had a dominant DT?

Feels like Meco thinks he can make journeyman work there. He likes them more quick than lane cloggers

I find it hard to believe Caserio would have the authority to dictate coaching hires. But he certainly should have the authority to push back on bad ideas, and he should've done so on the hiring of Caley.

I wouldn't have had an issue with this if they had spent the resources on the offense. Instead they kinda tried to split it down the middle and we're seeing the results of that philosophy.

this assumes that Caserio would agree that Caley was a bad idea. I think it is much more likely that Caley was Caserio’s recommendation and preferred hire. Look at the connections. Caserio is average at best. Time for a new GM but I doubt Cal or Hannah see it.

Yeah; that's certainly possible. Maybe McNair/Casserio convinced him to think outside the Shannahan tree after Slowick's implosion? Or maybe that was the direction DeMeco wanted to go?

Caley was highly-regarded; it certainly wasn't a big reach. But Caserio may have had his fingerprints all over it. Who knows?

FTR, I'm not remotely out on Caley - his only crime thus far is being inexperienced, which isn't his fault. He might be a great hire. But it's definitely been a mid start to things...

I would sincerely consider - we’re I Cal/Hannah - firing Caserio tomorrow. This offensive line - which he owns - is an embarrassment. Schultz is embarrassing. The RBs are embarrassing. And if he did indeed suggest/recommend Nick Caley after hiring Culley and Lovie….

The McNairs needs to send a message that this is not acceptable, and that they will revisit progress during the bye.

    Caserio is the biggest problem.

This. Went into the offseason knowing the OL and WR rooms needed to be rebuilt and both units are far worse.

They’re all going to get fired if this continues. They’re going to hand the keys over to an offensive-centered HC who will also be the defacto GM. It will be a carbon copy of the 2006 move to Kubiak….

(And then they’ll go another 5 years before installing a real DC again).

Its amazing that history has literally repeated itself for this franchise, expect the offense and defense has switched positions in every phase.

You can't say they didn't rebuild the WR room

They didn't have Dell or Diggs last year...who did they lose that made the offseason a negative?
