Like usual you have no idea what the hell youre talking about. The public airwaves rule only mandates that networks run advertisements from both sides of the asile. Republicans and the Trump campaign spent millions on advertising on ABC as well.

This is the core issue with MAGA. Theyre the dumbest people in society cosplaying as intelligent. Its like the janitor trying to step in to do the CEOs work cuz he heard a podcast

It was Disney/ABC that cancelled Jimmy Kimmel. It was NOT Trump and it was NOT the FCC. The real pressure came from Nexstar, the owner of the most ABC affiliates. This was a business move, based on Kimmel's declining popularity and absolutely classless remarks regarding the Charlie Kirk assassination. Kimmel also was illegally running free advertisements for the Democrat party.

So basically, he was doing illegal stuff, his business partners wanted him gone, he was no longer funny, and his viewers left him. It's very simple. Someone in this position does not deserve to keep his job. ABC had numerous valid reasons to terminate Kimmel. And they did so. What about this is difficult for the American liberal to understand?

According to the current supreme court 9-0 they don't have to.

well if that's the case, with the Supreme Court on its side it is even more clear that ABC simply must have just wanted to get rid of Kimmel.

Vullo supports the "ABC is using the FCC as a smokescreen to get rid of an albatross" hypothesis. ;)

    related:

    https://nypost.com/2025/09/19/opinion/abc-needs-to-come-clean-on-why-it-gave-jimmy-kimmel-the-boot/

    excerpt:

Maybe ABC was spooked by Carr’s threats, or by affiliates’ fury at risking their FCC license — but fears more blowback if it makes that known.

But word is that the network was already questioning how Kimmel’s low ratings (viewership tanked from a weak 1.95 million in January to to a worse 1.1 million in August) could justify his huge salary, reportedly $16 million a year before bonuses.

Maybe some in management were looking for a way to lose this albatross: If he quits in a rage, that’s a big savings.

    ABC caved.

I don't think whether ABC wanted to get rid of Kimmel matters at all. It doesn't change the issue.

I'm sure that's what people who like to excuse the authoritarian practices and tendency of the Trump administration employs would want to focus on.

But the issue isn't Kimmel per se. He is one example of the larger issue which is this administration seeking to silence its critics in ways antithetical to the constitution.

pretty much the only thing that matters. If they cared about free speech, they would have pulled a Katharine Graham and published the Pentagon Papers

When I say Democrats can’t see their own tail, I don’t mean they’re stupid. I mean they have a blind spot. The problems with how they communicate are obvious to others, but they don’t notice it themselves. Instead of speaking in plain, relatable terms, they often use language that sounds like a lecture. That makes their message less effective, even when their ideas have merit.

You’re free to call me out, but frankly, you misread my original post. Everything I explained to you over the last few posts was already there.

As for ostracizing people, I don’t believe in that. I think it’s mostly counterproductive.

Part of matters is that they don't take a stand for free speech. I agree with that. But the larger part is the actions of the administration.

Look at the statements they have made and the threats they've issued. Somebody standing up to their tactics or not doesn't change the fact that they are using them.

Somehow you didnt have a problem when the government was doing the same thing in 2020/2021 with social media sites.

When your team does it, its virtuous and self righteous.
When the other team does it, its evil.

Who said I didn't have a provlem? What consequence do you think there should be for users who repeatedly violate the terms of service they've agreed to regarding social media?

That being said the two examples are not the same. Show me statements by the AG, threat of FCC, calling criticism of the administration hate speech, etc. I look forward to seeing those examples. Thank you.

Liberals, unlike conservatives, don't live every moment of their lives to "own" the other side. Thats a conservative-specific mental health issue.

Liberals are too busy eating their own. Not because its tasty, but because liberals are submerged in hypocrisy.

Liberals on charlie Kirk: That is what happens when you use your freedom of speech to spread lies and hate
Liberals on Biggest Loser Kimmel: HOW DARE YOU RESTRICT HIS FREE SPEECH!!!

All Liberals had to do was 1 thing - Condemn assassinations and STFU. Instead, they did the exact opposite; Dismiss, victimize and celebrate.

Everyone misread the room. I didn't realize how serious this was until a BLM lib on an electric bike rode through a vigil the day after he died and yelled "F Charlie Kirk"

He got his ass kicked and that should have been an indicator that this was a sea change on the right. Not the time to pull the typical games and rage baiting.

I would disagree but I think you notice it more because for so long the mainstream has been all progressive and the only thing conservative can do is small pop shots disrupting the narrative.

Now their corporate hero overlords have made a single move they disagree with after a decade of progressive scrote licking and it's a boycott.

    Hilarious

You’d think a rational person would realize this was the most common response amongst the left.

If we only react to the fringes we’re always going to have something to be devastated about.
