Trump to Add New $100,000 Fee For H-1B Visas in Latest Crackdown - Bloomberg President Donald Trump signed a proclamation Friday that would move to extensively overhaul the H-1B visa program, requiring a $100,000 fee for applications in a bid to curb overuse. The proclamation requires the payment and asserts that abuse of the H-1B pathway has displaced US workers. The proclamation restricts entry under the H-1B program unless accompanied by the payment. The move will require a “$100,000 payment to accompany or supplement H-1B petitions for new applications,” according to a White House fact sheet. That payment would be in addition to current fees, which are more modest. Fees directly tied to the H-1B visa application currently include a $215 fee to register for the lottery alongside various filing fees. Trump also plans to order the Labor Secretary to undertake a rulemaking process to revise prevailing-wage levels for the H-1B program — a move intended to limit the use of visas to undercut wages that would otherwise be paid to American workers. --- How an Army of Middlemen Game the US Work Visa System A much needed move from President Trump. The astonishing fraud and rigging of the H1B lottery was known to both parties but as usual, dems twiddled their thumbs while Republicans saw the issue and got the job done.
How does this policy benefit white Americans more than non-white Americans? I think you are trying to say Americans don't deserve American jobs.
Does this affect you or no because you have an office that is already overseas? We were having intense discussions earlier this year because of the Trump visa issues about how we should offer H1Bs to our international recruits like our competitors. I was against it, and I am glad we did not pursue it. The juice is not worth the squeeze.
Yes, now it will be easier to compete against your american competitors. But overall we'll be weaker as a country. Good for you
We need immigration reform. Critical part of the President's new $100,000 charge for H1-B visas: The Administration can also offer a $100,000 discount to any person, company, or industry that it wants. Replacing rules with arbitrary discretion. Want visas? You know who to call and who to flatter.

Unless they leave the country. Rather have policy ghostwritten by special interests than policy by edict from the elected dictator. At least the lobbies employ thoughtful lawyers who can actually craft this policy into something other than chaos.
which is what in-house counsel spent the day at work doing. There was the question whether researchers who are abroad today needed to get on a plane asap to get back to the U.S. before this went into effect. I think this is one of the questions that made the administration add the various caveats later in the day
Who knows how it ends. Right now that’s the interpretation of the edict. New applications and renewals will be subject to this unless decided exempt at the whims of the White House. it seems like it will be a dagger to wield on Silicon Valley rather than something that will be used to help American workers. But right now American CS grads are in a terrible place with or without this change.
Operation Clog the Toilet is very real. The 4Chan Patriot Brigade has been reserving flights all day and then cancelling them inside the window to do so... thereby driving up prices on common India to USA flights (DEL/BOM to EWR/SFO/LAX/ATL).
