so you brought it up b/c you think americans want model CCP in order to compete with it?

you accused of democrats being stupid & then countered it with republicans doing something sensible.

But now I think you are basically saying that Americans afraid of CCP & tired of wealth gap (despite having more income than chinese or americans before them) decided to say "f*ck it, let's blow it up"

perhaps don't call democrats stupid when you compare them to people who mindlessly decide to blow up the #1 country in the world. it will be easier to take your argument seriously.

sorry if you're frustrated & want to make sense of things.

the guy is the type that likes attention & will BS for it without clear agenda or good arguments. Here on this forum he implied that example of censorship is not one. then changed his course to say it is one of MANY problems of which one is a general threat of censorship (that's been going on for years by this administration btw) and then he pointed out that the program censored was not fair to the right.

The example of censorship is the most poignant and blatant to date & acts as a litmus test to what we've become as a country. And this guy wants it not to be so, because it's too cut and dry and doesn't allow him an opportunity to BS (& lead conversation), so he tries to play down the significance of it.

He is not trying helping to provoke your thoughts here with a legitimate dialogue, but trying to somehow change topics into more and more topics instead of prioritizing correctly & staying focused (and outraged!) on the most important one.

You won't convince him of anything negative either, because he wants to think happy thoughts - and like he said, someone calling him a clown in the morning is not that.

It's like talking to AI chat robot - it jut wants to talk, it doesn't really care about topic at hand.

The problem is that the network needs to fight back. This very Supreme Court has said that even statements from the government sent to silence or intimidate expression and dissent is a violation of the first amendment. But unless it gets tested, it won't matter.

National Rifle Association of America v. Vullo - Wikipedia https://share.google/wMw7rwx4fw7K8iUli

    The decision was 9-0.

What the administration is doing is in clear violation.

I can't help it if posters here do not understand the differences between free speech, censorship, freedom of the press, academic freedom, and the like.

Government intervention and pressure for censorship. Don't worry when the dems are in charge again they'll start pushing their fascist policies.

LOL when Rogan asked Zuckerberg to provide a single shred of evidence he had nothing. He couldn't even bring up a damn email that the admin supposedly sent him. Also zuck did this interview right before the inauguration when he was kissing Trumps ass.

The supreme court already ruled last year the Biden admin did not pressure the big tech companies at all. There was no consequences if they didnt follow through.

The difference this time being the FCC telling ABC, "we can do this the easy way or the hard way bcz the FCC would be very busy if they said no

Another swing and a miss from MAGA trying to act smart.

I don't know what Americans want. I do know that when a large segment of them is unhappy, they are willing to gamble. The CCP was brought up to illustrate that some Americans are ready to ditch democracy for authoritarianism, since they see the CCP making strong gains while the U.S. has stalled or gone backward.

I said "wussies", not stupid. Wussie: feeble, timid, cowardly.

I'm not frustrated. I'm just stating what I believe is happening. My point is that Americans have made a bad bet, and we’re now at serious risk of destroying democracy.

    As I wrote earlier:
That gamble isn't paying off though. A lot of folks, especially younger ones who said "let's give it a try," are getting buyer's remorse seeing that the dude cares more about revenge than fixing anything. Watch his approval with under-35 voters and every group - diving.

We're basically watching a 248-year experiment in self-governance try to survive social media and oligarchy. It's like hiring a demolition crew to renovate your kitchen - sure, change happens fast, but you might not have a house left.

Hilarious that in 2022 you spammed these forums of non stop braindead OPeds stating the biden admin was censoring americans and it was the biggest story even though the WH did not threaten the social media companies at all.

Again its just so hilarious how the MAGA cultists do a 180 as soon as their messiah is in office. Stop pretending you have any core morals or values.

Good faith is the foundation of any meaningful argument.

You have no morals or values with all due respect. You do a 180 depending on whos in power. The Biden admin requesting big tech to remove medical disinformation was somehow the biggest censorship story of our decade according to you. The FCC using the threat of yanking their broadcasting license somehow is no big deal cuz they didnt make a explicit "quid pro quo."

I would respect you 100x more if you just come out and say, "I'm a conservative and my job is to sane wash and fight for MAGA."

Why do you have to pretend to be someone youre not? Come out of the closet and put the red hat on. Nobody will judge you

I haven't read the thread other than the first few pages. I don't care what the motivation for ABC was, Kimmel shouldn't have said that

He accused maga AND was wrong. He looks like a fool and the accusation was offensive

"I dont care what the motivation for ABC was" the motivation is the FCC threatened to pull ABC broadcasting license. If you support the FCC threatening private corporations then let us know cuz when the next democratic admin yanks foxnews broadcasting license for lying you better not cry and b****. Foxnews had the largest payout in American history for a defamation cuz they purposely lied about election being stolen yet none of you clowns came out against them.

"The accusation was offensive" offensive to who exactly? MAGA cult?

I have not been following this closely either, but I do have a question for you:

What did Kimmel say that was so wrong, given when he said it?

This is what got him canceled. The idea that this was even that bad is hilarious

in fact, what "got him canceled" was his widely-reported intent to go on the air Wednesday night and "double down" on the whole thing.

THAT is what got him "canceled."
