I will say I'm not nearly as concerned about the bats this series as I am the pitching. Including all 3 starters. I do believe Brown will hold it together tonight despite lots of consternation. 6 innings, 2 runs.
The 3 matchups are like vs like. The 2 aces face off vs one another. The 2 most problematic starters as of late go in game 2. The 2 starters that have come on in the last 2 months to help save their team's season go in game 3.
Need at the very least to win 2/3 to secure the tiebreak which is going to be huge. Mariners plays the Rockies and then the Dodgers in their last series. Dodgers may already have clinched their division by then and they may rest their best players. Astros play the A's who have been a good team the last month and close out with the Angels...both divisions teams that would love to play spoiler.
Mariners seem to have Bryan Abreu's number the past 3 seasons....he's blown multiple games to them..and that was just when he was the setup guy. I'm not going to be comfortable with any lead going into the 9th...
