Yao is so freaking huge, it’s crazy. An average human next to him would just not make any sense as already here he makes Cat look like he was shrunk hahaha
Cat is great. I love what he's doing in his personal life and advocating for father's rights, along with being an awesome human. ...I still remember his Golden State winner as a rookie. He was always going to be a problem.
Such a great interview. Both are just wonderful human beings and that richness of spirit really shines through when they talk. You can feel the sincerity and genuine friendship they have which really makes these kind of interviews better for me personally.
In the last couple of years there were so many images and memes of Yao in his job overseeing Chinese basketball, his struggles, his obvious frustrations--it just seemed like he was tired all the time. It's great seeing a more relaxed side of Yao, especially him talking to an old friend. He is such a charismatic dude, and obviously incredibly intelligent. Hope we get to hear more from him now that he's stepped down from that thankless, crappy job.
seems they are still pretty close how many seasons they play together? hope that trade didn't happen at least not that soon and not the same exact players
They played together for 2 seasons. It was a shame that Rudy T had to step down due to illness which led to the hiring of JVG which led to the later departure of Steve and Cat. I googled as Cat mentioned that Yao dunk on Ratliff a couple times in different interviews. I believe he must have a false memory as we did not come back from 20 points deficit and won that Atlanta game after the dunk. Like Yao said in the interview, we lost that game.
I think he misremembered......they had 2 games against Atlanta......in both Atlanta was leading by half time......the game they won was in Houston. Split record 1-1. In both the Rockets came back but as you said in the Atlanta road game one, Atlanta won the 4th by single digits, it was close. Now which one he dunked really hard, I bet he also dunked in the game they won. https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200212200HOU.html https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200301100ATL.html
