I think Charlie Kirk said a lot of dumb , antagonizing things . But , he has the freedom of speech to do so. Those who say indifferent snarky things about his murder also have the freedom to do so I guess this all comes down to legality vs repercussions and I'm not sure we want to play that game You can argue that a nasty post about his death should get someone fired , or cancelled (whatever). There are many right to work states that don't need any cause at all for firing and so If employers want to go for that , then there probably isnt a legal recourse Same thing with Kimmel getting cancelled etc. at the end of the day , you can always claim "business" But where is the legal line We did pass a civil rights act a while ago that created a line that said you can't refuse business to people based on the fact that they are black I'm not a lawyer . I don't know how that law works I don't know how your freedom of speech protections work within the overall legal framework But I do feel confident saying that we shouldn't want to play this game . The pendulum always swings and people that are cheering on consequences for average Twitter posts #1 are scum , #2 will eventually face the other side of the equation and it won't be pretty . You can try to argue "left" cancel culture already happened , but in my opinion not like this and not with as much support of the govt in power It's a bit scary We are trending in an authoritarian direction And it's not nice. Conservatives/trolls on this board may think I'm a bit chicken little , and I could be . But politics is team sports at this point with way more real life consequences . If the economy was good , we wouldn't have to pay attention and be so invested . Think about what happens when your team wins g1 and you talk **** . Then the other team wins G2 and they ramp up the **** talking . When you win G3 do attitudes cool down or does the energy level increase ? Eventually people are punching each other in the stands . Trump is ineffective at leading the nation morally. We are a throng of fans and tensions are getting high. No one is taking the high road and if you are Im sorry. There are too many gleefully taking the low But look , I don't know anyone who got fired yet . This is just stuff I read online or see headlines I do feel the pressure not to post or speak a certain way . All said , I think Kirk was pretty intellectually dishonest , but the man made a name for himself and made good money and I don't hate Stephen A smith .
Kirk was dumb and a piece of **** for the most part, but let’s not pretend he was turning on Netanyahu and his influence on the USA. Israel might have something to do with this murder, wouldn’t rule it out. Killing him or anyone over an opinion is of course never justified.
I'm sending you source material you idiot. You don't even know what it is because you refused to look at it. There are clips of Kirk's own statements in that video, its not just a commentary video. My comments are on the point that your accusations of him as a racist, xenophobe, etc. has no basis whatsoever, and you don't even bother to look at the entirety of the context. You basically said "I don't need context" because you would rather continue hating the guy than risk being disproven. You are coming from a position of ignorance, and you are not to be taken seriously.
you’re just being lazy and overly emotional. I read his whole exchange about black pilots. I saw the context. You said you were “smart” but you are totally unable to articulate what the proper context is or what I’m missing. You just keep telling me to watch a YouTube video. Stop being so lazy and disingenuous and think for yourself. Explain the context in you own words “smart” guy!
Teaser of Indiana Jones mocking fascists in 1937 removed after complaint it somehow about Charlie Kirk Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the latest game featuring the famed archeologist and adventurer, but publisher Bethsoft has deleted a teaser clip reminding viewers who he was up against in 1937: "You don't care much about those fascists, do you?" he says in it, to a cat. PC Games reports that conservatives complained the clip was a cryptic reference to Charlie Kirk, the right-wing influencer shot dead last week at a campus event in Utah, and demanded its removal. If you did that and still don't understand, then your brain synthesis and thought processing is lacking. Clearly, the text relates to his opposition to DEI, being opposed to DEI doesn't make you racist, it makes you an equal opportunist.
Are you reading posts? It is as simple as can be stated. It is a debate topic on Affirmative Action/DEI in the airlines industry in direct response to multiple CEO's (Delta, United, etc.) stating that they were initiating DEI policies within their companies. It is not a false premise. Moreso, it is a debate on IF these policies were implemented, how would it affect standards & qualifications to which pilots are held. He is arguing that IF policies are implemented which allow for lesser standards & qualifications based solely on race, then it may be a cause for concern. Currently, IF there are no DEI hiring practices in the airline industry, then the only ones that would be questioning the ability of Black pilots would be racists. KIRK: I'm sorry. If I see a Black pilot, I'm gonna be like, "Boy, I hope he's qualified." KOLVET: But you wouldn't have done that before! KIRK: That's not an immediate … that's not who I am. That's not what I believe. NEFF: It is the reality the left has created. KIRK: I want to be as blunt as possible because now I'm connecting two dots. Wait a second, this CEO just said that he's forcing that a white qualified guy is not gonna get the job. So I see this guy, he might be a nice person and I say, "Boy, I hope he's not a Harvard-style affirmative-action student that … landed half of his flight-simulator trials." KOLVET: Such a good point. That's so fair. KIRK: It also … creates unhealthy thinking patterns. I don't wanna think that way. And no one should, right? Do you understand that he is saying that he is not the kind of person that would question the ability of a Black pilot and that no one should think that way, that it is unhealthy thinking that is created by implementing policies which favor one person over another because of race, gender, etc. The comment about a Harvard-style Affirmative Action student is also related to this debate. Should the first-generation Asian son of the single Vietnamese mother working long hours at the nail salon down the street be denied admission from Ivy League universities in favor of, say, Ime Udoka's son, even though he has much higher grades, test scores & qualifications? Are raced based admissions good? Are Affirmative Action/DEI hiring policies good? These are legitimate debates, arguments and thoughts.
There are plenty of debate-me-bro people on the left. Destiny, Sam Seder, Vaush, Dean Withers, David Pakman, etc. In fact, most of the right wing debate-me-bro folks actively and repeatedly duck having to interact with these people due to fear of having their carefully crafted personas as masterdebaters shattered by people who aren't 19 years old humanities students.
