I like that lineup and its potential. Hopefully they have a good week or Two to build some chemistry before the playoffs begin.

Of course they have to take care of business and stay in 1st place, it would be ideal if they can try and get that #2 seed in the playoff, to avoid the wild card round.

Paredes cannot replace Jordan Alvarez’s bat, but he can definitely exponentially improve the batting lineup regardless.

it’s a wonder the Astros are in the position they are with all of the injuries to their star players.

With the following lineup, the hitting lineup would have gotten exponentially better! With all the injuries the offense has little rhythm and consistency to build anything.

    Pena - SS
    Myers - CF
    Alvarez - LF/DH
    Paredes - 2B/DH
    Altuve - DH/2B/LF
    Correa - 3B
    Walker -1B
    Diaz - C
    Smith - RF

Think I would start Esock as DH at least the first game back.

I love Meyers hitting 9th. I hate any lineup where he is higher than 8th

2nd is terrible unless we are talking about 1975.

A #2 hitter should be your best hitter and must have some power.

I can't imagine wanting Meyers to get more PAs than guys like Yordan, Altuve, Correa, and Paredes

And Smith should sit vs RHSP in favor of Cole or Sanchez

What? I would want my 2 best on base hitters in Pena and Meyers 1 and 2 get on base then the RBI guys....after....

    Correa, Isaac, Tuve, etc.

    Thats 1975 thinking.

Just look at the #2 hitters in MLB. They are the MVP candidates

I never want to see Meyers get more PAs than Yordan or Paredes if they are all healthy.

I would say that is winning thinking....get your two best on base people ON before the RBI guys.

Just because something worked for 100 years doesn't mean it still doesn't work.

Thats why Meyers hits 9th so the 2 best on base guys hit ahead of the #2-4 hitters.

You give your best hitters the most PAs- its as simple as that.

Meyers is a good on base guy. Thats not the same as being a good hitter.

228 batters have at least 350 PAs. Meyers is 158th in SLG. Thats just not good enough for a guy hitting in the top half of a lineup.

Ignoring SLG in the #1 and #2 lineup spots in favor of ONLY OB% is a recipe to limit run scoring.

No it’s exactly where he should hit. Idstrosfan explained it to you very well. Analytics are real and meaningful, especially in baseball.

    Meyers should definitely hit 9th.
