I am enjoying Season 4 of Shield Hero. It is overall ok. Entertaining Tougen Anki is interesting. The Blood thing tries to make it gory but feels more.. . .meh Lazerus was good . .. very Jazzy DandaDan is ok but forgettable Sakamoto Days - I'm enjoying this one Moonrise was ok I need a new season o The Brilliant Healer and My Hero Academia Rocket River
Sakamoto Days has two parts and their first part was alright but the second part has picked it up quite a bit IMO… Better animation and more interesting story in part 2.
Watched Demon Slayer - Infinite Castle movie. It was an early afternoon showing, but it was still pretty much sold out. Amazing, Demon Slayer is a masterpiece and one of the greatest anime I've seen. Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/14/business/anime-demon-slayer-box-office.html ‘Infinity Castle’ Tops the Box Office, Revealing Changing Tastes “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” an anime film from Sony Pictures, arrives to a surprisingly strong $70 million in domestic ticket sales.
they’re going to turn Gojo vs Sukuna into a movie, and that’s when you’ll see an anime do prime Marvel numbers at the theaters
Demon Slayer is an enjoyable shonen, but I can't for the life of me understand how the films have become box office monsters like they have. I figured Mugen Train was just a covid fluke, but this is doing even stupider numbers.
There is a chance one or more of the Demon Slayer Trilogy will be the first billon dollar anime film.
Saw the new Demon Slayer movie in theaters and it was a solid A- The music, animation, action, and story was all amazing except the last act just felt like it could have been cut in half because the emotional payoff fell pretty flat with me. I definitely used the last act for my restroom break because it just felt like too much filler to get to the next movie/season. However, still a great movie that was better in theaters. If the overall quality keeps up then I don't mind theatrical release. Looking forward to Chainsaw Man in theaters next.
Unless there’s a massive swell in anime viewership and a big ‘demon’ whatever fad, I sincerely doubt any of these movies hits 1b. Fan-driven movies are generally front loaded in box office. If the current one does half a billion I’ll be surprised.
But seriously.... it's nice to see anime appealing to a broader audience since the times of the DBZ Cell Saga finally making its way to America on Toonami
Happy to be wrong but I’ve been watching box office returns for decades. It’s sort of a hobby of mine. I just don’t think it will have legs to hit 1b.
Probably not, but you also said you would be surprised if it hit half a billion and it's about to blow by that already.
