The consistent pressure is causing CJ to miss even when he isn't pressured. It's on him to fix it, but he is shook for sure.
Imagine if the Texans paid him a max contract. It would cripple the franchise for years. Need to trade him for picks.
First, Dak is a better athlete than Stroud. Stroud has a better arm. But is Dak really what you want as a comp? I guess there’s worse options.
I frowned at the Goff comparisons before but if someone tells me now Stroud will be Goff I’ll take it.
What are you seeing that im not? Re watch the film. The receivers are getting open and he's just not seeing them. His field vision is terrible right now. He's playing checkers while the defense is playing chess. They're throwing disguised coverages at him, and he's biting every time. That's the definition of a low QB IQ—he can't decipher what's in front of him. He's making the wrong read on simple option routes. The receiver breaks out, he throws in. That's a disconnect that falls on the quarterback. He's not just missing throws; he's missing the entire concept of the play. The game plan is there, the plays are there to be made, and he's failing at the most fundamental mental aspect of the job.
Wow, if CJ fails, I will be crushed. I just knew he was the "answer." Before they give up on him, they need to fix everything around him, which they may be unable to do..
So you are saying it is not the plays that are the problem, it is him. You may know football better than I, but it looks like the play calling is not putting him in the best place to succeed. Run up the middle, nothing. Do it again, nothing. Third and long. Defense calls a blitz.
This should concern every Texans fan. It's flat out embarrassing for CJ Stroud to say "My process has really been good lately, I see the field well putting the ball where it’s supposed to be with the coverages" because he clearly hasn't been seeing the field well and he hasn't been putting the ball where it's supposed to be, on time. If he doesn't know that, he's lost. If he knows that, but is lying in an effort to save face, he's just childish.
