Nice win with a bunch of AAA pitchers, that was gutsy.................not gonna lie, though we would sheet the bed in the late innings when the Rangers caught fire but we held on. Blue Balls is a gamer
Any success in the postseason will heavily depend on him, so it’s kind of all the same. Honestly Javier tonight is bigger. Getting into the postseason is more important than winning the division since a bye is likely out of the question. The Astros shouldn’t worry about the Mariners as much as the Rangers, Guardians, and Red Sox right now. A win tonight puts the Ranger 5 back with a tie breaker going to the Astros.
I didn't think we would beat Kelly, so I guess there is no reason to think we can't beat deGrom. Even if we don't, 2 of 3 from the Rangers is mission accomplished. First order of business is making the playoffs where anything can happen.
Fractures and breaks are revealed on simple X-Rays, MRI's are done to reveal the muscle and ligament damages. It's sad that they say nothing about the MRI results for what the MRI is used for.... Hopefully, it is just a sprain, and the sprain is resolved in 3 weeks, and not 3 months. Either way, I would not think that we will see Yordan in the field again, and likely won't see him running anything out the rest of the year.
I disagree with this wholeheartedly First of all- I do not think a bye is "likely out of the question" The Astros are 2 1/2 games behind Detroit who holds the last AL bye. Astros have 4 games remaining vs teams fighting for the playoffs while Tigers have 8. Astros magic number vs Detroit is 14 and between them, they have 21 games remaining. Unlikely, maybe, but thats far from "out of the question" Also, it is still very likely that the Astros and Mariners play each other in the WC round - I think its extremely important for that series to be in Houston, if it happens, and that means winning the division.
You cut out the context of the quote which was the importance of Javier’s start tonight. With regards to the bye, the Astros have a tougher strength of schedule remaining than the tigers and are 3 games back in the loss column Say the Tigers go 4-7 in their last 11. They’d finish 89-73. The Astros would have to go 7-3 because they lose the tie-breaker. If the Tigers go 6-5, the Astros would have to go 9-1. Meanwhile if the Astros beat the Rangers today, they basically remove one team they have to worry about entirely. Focus on that first, then worry about the division or the slim chance of a bye later.
I don't believe I did cut out the context. Your reason for the importance of Javier's start today is exactly what I disagreed with. I agree Javier's start is important BECAUSE the bye is still a possibility and very very worthwhile not because we should focus on beating Texas out for a WC spot. In particular, I disagree with your statement that the bye is "likely out of the question". 2 1/2 games behind the Tigers when they must still play 11 games (8 of them vs playoff contenders) should never be "out of the question" unless you have given up.
Was it last year - that like 47 things had to happen? Like going into the last week of the season we needed all of these certain things to happen. And then they did. They all did. That was crazy. I’m old now and can’t remember if that happened last year or last decade (but I’m pretty sure it was the Astros; reasonably sure). I apologize in advance.
