When swelling goes down they will get an MRI. I know a lot of fans are mad, but Yordan works extremely hard and puts in a a lot of work on his body to avoid looking like David Ortiz. I would expect them to get him into yoga or something this Winter. Either way - I think his days in LF should be over. Have him DH and be careful on the bases. Wouldn’t be shocked if Altuve is back at 2nd next year with Paredes at 1st. Meyers has center and Cam will lock down another spot. Leaves several guys competing for LF.
altuve, walker, yainer, and correa need to show up for this homestand. they are a combined 1 for 14 tonight.
Between Matthews and Cole, the Astros have some seriously quick bats. Better not throw anything in or up to them. Lots of defensive upside to them as well. An outfield of Cole/Meyers/Smith is pretty damn good defensively.
Back when I had time to play MVP baseball for Dynasty/season mode that was prime hitting territory as 2nd cleanup man as the Astros went 173-0 and broke basically every record ever set But in real life I'm not sure, at career normal levels and no injuries I'd say 6 or 7 hole. Pena Parades Yordan Correa Walker Altuve Diaz Meyers Cole/Smith
It feels like every significant injury he's had since he had the surgery in 2020 has been running the bases or because of his mysterious hand malady. Playing the field seems like it's been the least of his injury issues.
Holy Moly..........I am not sure I have ever seen ANYONE get hurt simply crossing the plate, this is why we cannot have nice thing`s. Cole came in and did his best Yordan impression, minus getting hurt on some weird play. How the F do you hurt yourself that bad simply crossing home plate..................UGH, he will be out for weeks now if past injuries are any indication
If Yordan is out more than 2 weeks things get pretty bleak. Even if Paredes does return, it makes it that much more important that Altuve and Framber snap out if this funk they are in.
They should anyway. Just make home plates out of a more pliable/skid resistant material. Super easy with no effect to games. Safety first.
I remember Kendry Morales severely broke his ankle on home plate after he hit a walkoff homerun...he missed two years.
How many tens of thousands of times have people crossed home plate in the last several years and how many have gotten injured doing it? Might as well bubble wrap everyone and use spongey balls and whatever else if we're trying to prevent 100% of fluke injuries.
SS Pena DH Paredes 2B Altuve 3B Correa 1B Walker C Diaz LF Cole/Smith RF Sanchez/Smith CF Meyers I'm fine with this lineup for the playoffs. We will need to get the playoff version of Altuve and Correa if we are get to the promised land. The rest of the pieces are in place as well as they could be.
