This is like watching Bobby 2.0 with the play calling.... I get that Stroud can be doing better... but the play calling is awful and it still looks like Stroud is not able to audible... T_Man
CJ said he has the freedom to audible in the offense. The freedom CJ wanted he got. It's the main reason Slowik was fired. They didn't work well together.
Performance in 2025: Despite Stroud gaining more control, the Texans' offense has struggled through the first two games of the 2025 season, which were a 14-9 loss to the Rams and a 10-15 loss to the Buccaneers. Stroud himself has publicly addressed the team's poor start and his frustrations. This poor start might lead some to mistakenly believe the old restrictions are still in place. T_Man
I went to the game, it was rough. The goaline sequence is pretty unforgivable. I really don't understand why teams don't practice QB sneaks. It doesn't have to be the QB. Find one replaceable **** face to ram their ass up the middle to get a yard. 2nd and 1 from the goaline should never not be a TD unless there is a turnover. I don't love CJ's attitude or body language - not necessarily in game but just in general. Idk if I can blame him but he's supposed to be the franchise leader. Man up and overcome some adversity. He held the ball for too long on at least 3 occasions. I didn't think the O line was as bad as everyone thought. The tendency in the run game is a major issue in why we aren't great at it, as is the absolute lack of talent in that room - that's on Caserio. He's neglected RBs for years. No I don't think trading for and signing an aging, albeit good RB in Mixon solved any issues when the depth still sucks. I'm absolutely furious with this defense and Demeco. Play calling, clock management, F ****ing minus. They were supposed to be elite. They are not and yesterday was an embarassment. Caley is kind what I was worried he would be. Glass half full is that maybe he can improve. The problems on this team, as I have been adamant about, were not isolated to Slowik. That was such stupid logic from day one. AGAIN, THE BEST CJ HAS EVER LOOKED WAS WITH A WORSE O-LINE AND WORSE ROSTER AND SLOWIK CALLING PLAYS. I was happy to get rid of him, but not to make a lateral move, which it appears it is right now. I'm slowly talking myself back into the idea that we can still win 9-10 games and get the division. I do have confidence that Demeco and the defense will (probably?) get it together. I mean, I've seen a BOb Texans' team trail 42-0 at halftime and make the playoffs in the same season. It wouldn't be that crazy. But we are definitely no better than last year, likely worse, and the team really isn't in better position year 3 of Demeco and that's so disappointing. Better talent on defense but everything else is just ehh. Special teams was incredible yesterday. Pierce killed us week one. Shout out to a coach that makes adjustments - looking at you Frank Ross.
Agreed, and without Mixon the RB room is really bad. Dare shouldn't be on the field with the offense. Great post, we're seeing a lot of the same things.
The OC should pick 10 plays that are CJ strength.... learn your qb and what he does well.. He should also be learning how to feel the game and move away from this stupid thought of sticking with a game plan.. Adjust to the defense... its a chess match and not a freaking madden game... T_Man
Most teams script the first 15 plays. They also score on their 1st drives regularly. In this offense CJ has the ability to check into plays he likes. Or at least that's what CJ has said.
