Rangers are 19 games over .500 at home, 11 under on the road Seattle is 21 over at home, 7 under on the road Two of the biggest variances in baseball We haven't played great obviously, but we are 8-8 at home since the beginning of August Take 4 of the 6 games this week and we are in a good place as far as making the playoffs Anything less and the chances are slim
It's the Rangers pitching that worries me going into the series. That usually travels well... hope the bats show up and the team can find that elusive stride to finish on a strong uptick. Just worry about the inability to hit at home and the Rangers pitching dominating leaving little room for error for our staff.
I haven't given up. The Astros have earned the benefit of the doubt over the years, although I freely admit that this group feels different. Framber in particular. His bullshit makes me think the team bond might not be as tight as it once was, and these guys might just go through the motions to close out the year. I don't see the fire. But I still haven't given up on them.
I don't know if I can watch this series or not. I have the same feeling I had after we won Game 5 in Arlington a few years ago and I just knew we were going to lose the next 2 at home because we just blow so many different variables of chunks at home.
My prediction the rest of the way: Lose 2 of 3 to Rangers Win 2 of 3 vs Mariners Then go something like 4-2 the last two series' (where we should win 5 or 6 with our talent level given the stakes, but this team just feels like it's going to do just enough and nothing more) Seattle wins the division and we clinch a wild card on the last day. Lose WC in 3 games. Hope they prove me wrong...
If we get swept, no postseason for us. If we win just one, I think we end up clinging to WC, but the Division will be lost. If we win this series 2-1, division still in play, Rangers as WC team still in play. If we sweep the Rangers, we likely bury those cockroaches.
Texans and Astros going to head to determine which can disappoint less…….at least that’s my read. Surprise me Astros
I will repeat Joe Espada had a chance to start Brown on regular rest last Thursday vs the Blue Jays. That would have afforded his lock down starter to pitch vs both Texas (Tuesday) and Seattle (Sunday). But apparently Joe wasn't concerned with all that. Good luck with our TBD going up against Kelly. Conversely look how lovely Bochy has his rotation set up against us. It has sweep written all over it. In which case, the Astros playoff chances are completely over. I'm counting the days when this buffoon is no longer manager of the Houston Astros.
We are spoiled brats as Astros fans. We have seen them win seven AL West titles in the last eight years. The Rangers have seven total division titles in their franchise’s history. Yet, I’ll still be angry if the Astros don’t win the West again. I probably would be less angry if Oakland or Anaheim won it. I don’t like the fans of the Rangers or Mariners and I don’t want them to feel joy.
