Germany is the better team, more well a balanced. Everyone hit timely shots and contributed. Turkey has to rely on their big 3 and especially Sengun who looked overmatched by Germany's defense in the 4th.
Hopefully the rockets won't depend on him like the turkish national team. He looked tired all game long in the final. I assume this is due to carrying the whole team tournament long.
Yeah this was a choke job by Sengun, but the coach deserves to be fired for his lack of adjustments. Ime will not allow this kind of 1-on-1 bullshit from Sengun though and luckily we have KD as the #1 option. We don’t need Sengun to be the hero. Btw as far as Sengun being tired, then don’t attempt those shots, plain and simple. Not an excuse. Osman left the NBA, is in Greece now.
Turkey got cute with the ball when they were leading by 6. Instead of working for a better shot to potentially push it to 8, Sengun took a quick 3.
KD better be shooting the last shot, but knowing Ime the same **** will probably occur next playoffs. Sengun with a contested 3 to brick it.
Hopefully he can learn from this experience but Alpi needs to level up mentally to be a superstar. That 3 was a very bad decision. Either pass to Osmani or go to the basket and try to get a foul.
He is cavaliers legend! He was a borderline starter for them. If he had a consistent 3 pt shot he would have had a much better nba career.
ngl I agree. If you take away Sengun's 25 points on 65% TS through the first 3 quarters Turkey would have just walked away with this one. Also ngl - some of our fanbase are some gd knuckleheads. Sengun blew it down the stretch with some inefficient plays and bad decisions. But that not gonna lie kiddie bs should read "NOT GONNA LIE, THIS WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN BEEN A GAME W/out ALPI +8 with 28 pts on 65% TS in a close game until late in teh 4th" yall crazy. (There, I did that kiddie thing so you know it's a hip take and not me being a boomer)
I was hoping Sengun truly improved with his outside shooting and ability to finish inside. Looks great in practice videos but some guys are simply like that and can’t bring it to games. I guess the free throw shooting improved, so there’s that.
Have to admit, I expected more legendary coaching from the legendary coach, seemed to be very little going on. Şengün lost it towards the end and you could tell he was pressing. Ah well, it was a hell of a run regardless.
3PT shooting will always be king of this era of basketball. Every Champion in the last 5 years relied on streaky 3pt shooting, even the recent OKC. It didn't matter what Turkey did today because Germany would throw up any kind of bs shot and they'd go in. Too bad our offense is built to be defense first.
