Having dug through the suspect's supposed Reddit profile, he does not appear to be a liberal, leftist nor a conservative or alt-right guy. He was a 4chan user but that's not a political affiliation. He was active Jordan Peterson's subreddit. He described himself as falling on no side. He hated his nutjob religious parents, and he was probably raised on TPUSA. Maybe he identified with Fuentes, maybe he didn't. Kind of moot at this point. Fuentes is no different than Kirk, both are conservative shock jocks in a sea of right wing hot takes. You'll note that the people venerating the late Kirk won't include his actual ideology that made him the person he was. Kirk, Fuentes, Jones, Crowder etc are all in a race to have the most inciting takes because that's how they get engagement and make money. No one sticks around when people say let's be kind to one another. But they do when they say: "They [Black women] do not have brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person's slot.".

When the dust settles, it most likely will be he chose to kill Charlie Kirk because he saw Charlie Kirk and his organization as grifters and phonies rather than some of the outlandish theories put out here (transgenderism, leftism, groyperism, anti-Israel, Islamic terrorism, mental illness etc.). He did it for the "lulz".

What's the most striking to me is that out of all the right winger social media influencers, only Candace Owens seems to be actually genuinely affected by it and her response was probably the most humanizing of Kirk. Everyone else seems to be looking to score from it and raise the ante against the enemies of their movements aka liberals (or leftists!). Even Kirk's now widow is in on the action.

 

If it turns out this kid was truly just chaotic neutral it's going to be so anticlimactic and aggravating.

Everyone will hold onto their pet conspiracy theories claiming he's woke/maga meanwhile he's probably got a **** eating grin about it all.

 

Pretty wild if he really did decided to kill Kirk for just shts and giggles, but nah its more fun for some folks to speculate his political affiliation as motive

What exactly are you blaming on shifting the Overton window toward the left since 2008 where you would be considered a left liberal in 2008 but a right wing conservative in 2024 being shot at by a left wing liberal.

The left have collectively been pro-secularism, pro-gender rights, pro-sexual orientation equality, pro-environmentalism, pro-choice, pro-gun control, anti-corporatism, pro-labor, pro-education, and pro-welfare.

The biggest change for conservatism is the outright embrace of populism and rejection of neoconservatism that dominated in the 2000s.

But to me the center while less populated is still at the same spot as it was in 2008. It’s just the algorithms are acting like sorting hats pushing one-sided content to make us hyper-polarized and engaged to the platforms.

What exactly have democrats gotten more extreme about?

I need some examples.

And I mean democrats. Not randos on Twitter and blue hairs on campuses. Actual societal power wielding people and institutions. Concrete laws and legislation.

This feels a lot like projection tbh.

Republicans have abandoned their own Healthcare policy. Tried to build a wall and supercharged ICE. Let a bunch of children and a psycho DOGE away the government. Turned tail on decades of international norms (both militarily and economically). Put a bunch of commentariat celebrities and random pay to win sycophants in positions of power. Got rid of roe v wade and have open ideations of nixing gay marriage soon.

There's probably a dozen or more things I could mention.

Literally everything has gotten more conservative.
