I still think the only way this country can come back from this is to shut down all social media. MAGA is too susceptible to misinformation. They have lost too much brain matter to covid the last 5 years. They are like gamblers that spend every last dime at the casino chasing that tiny hit of dopamine. They scour the internet looking for every bit of propaganda that makes them feel a little bit better about themselves. They don't care if it's lies from a liar. They are broken people trying to bring everyone else down rather than look at themselves.

 

the correct question would be why did you instantly believe it as truth?

It’s the same kind of reactionary clickbait creator content that had people blaming a transgender musician from Utah for the Kirk killing and aiming their vitriol at the trans community, and gets shared here by the same 5 users that everyone ignores.

It is so obviously not the same person and so easily able to be debunked.

I don't easily believe anything, I just pass on information I find interesting.

No one believed it to be a transgender person, this administration lies about everything.

A big problem may be these "investigators" who shared a lot of initial information that probably shoudn't have been leaked to the public. If they've got the likely shooter, they should now probably remain quiet and let the judicial process take over.

I'm just hoping/praying that this case gets an impartial judge who will let all the facts come out. Then, maybe it will be possible for ordinary people to get a small understanding of the motives behind this, before the political interpretations take over.

 

It’s definitely not the same person and this has been confirmed over and over again online. You are wrong and just can’t bring yourself to admit it. Think about how quickly and easily you got tricked… and try to level up your critical thinking. If you really make strides, you’ll probably become a conservative.

The fact is too that look… I’m sure the people who know him are personally grieving and he knew a lot of people in MAGA land so of course those emotions are real… but the fact is what nobody wants to address is the main reason why people on the right are angry is because a pretty important player on the team got taken out of the game.

That’s really the story nobody is directly wanting to address but the anger behind their eyes and certainty their rhetorical spin to use this for political retribution pretty loudly states the real anger here is about what they feel they lost in terms of political talent to achieve their ends.

Because as you noted is not even a hidden secret that if this was a massacre of dozens of college students or even an elementary school shooting with young children, none of these politicians would care. Maybe they tweet a thoughts and prayers tweet and when asked by Mana Raju in the halls of Congress when he chases them down they say they are praying for the victims etc. but even later that day they have moved on, and the news cycle moves onto the next stupid thing Trump does.

Pretty sad state of affairs. It’s terrible what happened to Kirk but we lose sight of the horrible tragedies that happen what seems like weekly nowadays and these pathetic cowards do nothing. But because of Charlie Kirk getting killed, now that means we need to become a police state with military on the streets and militias like the Proud Boys need to be reinstated to go out and crack some skulls.

It’s not just Republican, but our society as a whole.

Political violence, or the assumption of it, isn't normalized, and hopefully it never will be.

School shootings are normalized.

Daily gun homicides are also normalized.

On average, ~ 50 gun homicides occur per day ( from memory, so the number might be off). We don't hear about these because it's sadly become a normal part of life.

I didn't want to bring this up a few days ago because there's no whataboutism that justifies murder.

This is the part that nauseates me most. I read a study from around 3 years ago that said even though we only make up 5 percent of the global population, the United States has experienced 31 percent of global public mass shootings. It's probably higher now.

 

The Rural community has embraced the stupidity of child death because of the 2A even though that amendment is 100% about a militia - and nothing more.
